Brentford host Fulham in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Brentford Community Stadium (London) on Thursday, October 1 and the match kicks off at 5.30pm (UK).

On their way to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup Brentford have already knocked out two Premier League clubs, Southampton and West Brom and now they face Fulham in a match that will be a repeat of the Championship Play-off Finals which they ended up losing after extra-time. Fulham, on the other hand, beat League One side Ipswich in the first round and Sheffield Wed next. Now they face Brentford in another knock-out competition and a London derby.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Brentford are sitting in the 10th place in the Championship with four points after three weeks (W1-D1-L1) and it is not the start they were hoping for after almost securing the promotion in the Championship play-off finals last season. Since their surprise defeat on the opening day at Birmingham in the Championship, five goals and two clean sheets have followed in matches against Southampton and Huddersfield Town respectively. They beat West Brom after penalties in the third round and drew away against Millwall in the league (1-1). They are a bit inconsistent at the moment but The Bees progressed to the 4th round of the Carabao Cup for the first time in their history, and more importantly, they showed a fighting spirit to come back from behind twice against the Baggies and again against the Lions,so they will look to keep that momentum and get their revenge when they welcome Fulham on Thursday.
As for the Cottagers, last season's play-off winners suffered a disappointing 0-3 defeat to their London rivals, Arsenal on their home debut back in the Premier League. It was followed by an improved performance, albeit in a 4-3 defeat, against Leeds and by the time they face Brentford they will have played another Premier League game against Aston Villa.The Cottagers have a decent squad, but the worry remains whether they have enough quality to stay up. First two matches exposed all their shortcomings and weaknesses, and if they want to progress to the next round of the cup, they will have to raise their game significantly. They did that up to a point against Sheffield Wed in the previous round where they comfortably won 2-0, and the last time they played Brentford it was certainly much more significant game than the one they are going to play in midweek. That's not to put the game coming up down in any way, that's the reality and it will be good for the Cottagers if they could repeat the win to get their season going properly.
