Cardiff VS Middlesbrough - Betting Preview

MATCH REVIEW

Cardiff are 13th in the table with 8 points from their two wins against Nottingham (0-2) and Preston away (0-1), and two draws against Blackburn and most recently against Bournemouth at home (1-1) in the in the 6th round. They are unbeaten in the last three games (W1-D2) and host Middlesbrough next.

Middlesbrough defeated Barnsley before the international break to claim a first Championship victory of the season. They followed it with a home draw against promotion candidates Reading and the latest 6th round win against Bristol pushed them up the table to 9th place with 9 points from their first six matches. After a defeat in their season opener against Watford, they are now unbeaten in 5 consecutive matches (W2-D3)

MATCH ANALYSIS

Unlike many clubs in the Championship, Cardiff didn't go through too much commotion this summer, so they have a settled side, which should be a big positive for them as they are looking to regain the last season’s form. However, despite their grit, the goals are lacking and that is why the Bluebirds were looking to bolster their attacking options  when they signed Liverpool forward Harry Wilson on a season-loan. They also signed goalkeeper Dillon Phillips and defender Filip Benkovic on deadline day.

Cardiff City's fine away form continued as Sheyi Ojo's first Bluebirds goal secured victory at Preston North End in a fairly bland contest and they continued their three-games unbeaten run as Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson scored on his debut to earn the Bluebirds a draw against his former side Bournemouth in an entertaining Championship encounter.

After unsuccessful spell at the helm with former club legend Jonathan Woodgate, who obviously didn't have much pulling power as a manager, the job was given to experienced Neil Warnock. He managed to keep them up, and it's not entirely unexpected that he had decided to stay and maybe create another promotion miracle with a club whose rich history suggests that they can compete at the highest level.

After defeating Barnsley, they held the league leaders Reading to a goalless draw at home and defeated the 2nd best team in the league Bristol next to end their unbeaten start to the 2020/21 campaign. Warnock's side will be buoyed by this win ahead of their visit to Wales, not only by the three points, but with the general display as well as Boro restricted Bristol by not allowing a single shot on target.
