Mallorca will go head to head with the host Alaves in the second round of La Liga. The match kicks off at 4:00 pm (UK) on Saturday 20th August 2021. Read Alaves vs. Mallorca prediction and betting tips.
Mallorca, which was promoted from the Segunda Division last season, is keen to earn a place in La Liga after drawing with Real Betis on Sunday. Deportivo Alaves will host Mallorca this week in search of their first La Liga victory of the season. In the top tier of La Liga, these two teams will meet for the third time since 2006, when they last met. Alaves ended the previous season with 38 points, four points above the relegation zone.
Mallorca has been playing really well since the start of the season. It competed against seven other teams, including Eibar. Only one of the seven matches ended in a 1-0 defeat, which was against Huesca at home. That was really fantastic. Last Sunday, it played host to Real Betis in a game that was both exciting and entertaining. Mallorca took an early lead through Brian Oblivian, and the game remained tied until Betis' Nebil Fakir scored a free-kick, which the Mallorca goalkeeper deflected into his own net. In spite of the fact that Mallorca did not dominate ball possession, they were able to score goals when the situation demanded it.
Alaves have won 5 of their past 9 head-to-head meetings, with one draw, and Mallorca having won 3 of them. However, in their most recent season together, in 2019/20, Deportivo Alaves won 2-0 in the first leg at home and Mallorca won 1-0 in the second game at their home stadium. So it's apparent that both clubs are capable of pulling off a surprise in the next game.
Alaves in the opening game, it hosted Real Madrid. Though Real Madrid kept attacking, both broke for half-time goalless. In the second half, the Zidane's boys outwitted Alaves. Benzema scored a brace, Nacho and Vinicious Jr. scored each. However, Madrid Thibaout Courtois fouled and Alaves were awarded a penalty which Joselu put into the net.
Mallorca is playing a defensive game, whilst Alaves is attempting to score goals. Anything may happen in the next encounter, although Alaves is a bit more powerful than the opponent in this one.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
