Arsenal host Chelsea at the Emirates (London) in the 2nd round of the 2021/22 Premier League season and the match kicks off at 4.30 pm (UK) on Sunday, August 22. Read our reasons for Arsenal vs Chelsea prediction and betting tips.
THE PRESSURE IS ON ARSENAL AND ARTETA
Arsenal welcome European champions, Chelsea, to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday for a London derby that has already assumed greater importance for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s side were defeated 2-0 by newly-promoted Brentford on the opening day of the season and will need to produce a much more convincing performance against the Blues to take the pressure off themselves and their manager. On the other hand, Chelsea comfortably beat Crystal Palace 3-0 and will now look for revenge over the Gunners after Arteta’s side surprisingly completed a league double over them last season.
GUNNERS MUST FIRE BACK FROM DEFEAT
Things couldn’t have gone too much worse for Arsenal fans last season as they watched their team slump to an eighth-place finish. For a team with the Gunners’ expectations that is nothing short of a disaster. Supporters are now back in their seats, and the stadium is running at full capacity, and those paying their hard-earned cash to support the club will make it clear they won’t stand for any further embarrassment.
Arsenal’s season got off to the worst possible start when they lost to the newly promoted Brentford. It was an emotional night for Brentford, and the players fed off that, rising to the occasion and grinding out a stunning 2-0 win. Most Arsenal fans couldn’t believe what they were watching. Mikel Arteta's side were alarmingly poor and now face Chelsea before a trip to Man City. Worrying times ahead for Arteta.
BLUES AIMING HIGH THIS SEASON
Chelsea found their feet last season after showing Lampard the door, climbed into the major places and secured a spot in the Champions League this season. The aim for this season is to build on that Champions League win by following it with a Premier League title and if they can make a strong start, they will grow in confidence. Tuchel has the quality in his squad to challenge but will require them to be consistent throughout the campaign. Do they have what it takes to push Man City?
We’ll have a better idea at the end of this game. Chelsea opened their account for the season with an impressive win over Crystal Palace in another London derby. That was a match they were expected to win, and they did the job in fine style, beating the Eagles 3-0 with the points tied up by halftime. The Blues will be strengthened for the visit to the Emirates by the arrival of Romelu Lukaku and there looks to be plenty more to come from Chelsea.

The Gunners are a team that usually starts the season strongly before falling away in winter, but if they go 0-2 this season, the already restless fans will lose their patience. A win would help get them back onside quickly. Meanwhile, Chelsea arrive at the Emirates full of confidence. They were impressive in that win over Palace but face a step up in the standard of opponent here, and the players must rise to the occasion. If they believe Arsenal are a soft touch, they will be made to pay a heavy price.
Four of their last five clashes have seen 3+ goals, and we at BettingKick expect over 2.5 goals for our Arsenal vs Chelsea prediction.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
