We enjoyed Atalanta’s performances in recent years but in the first game of the new season, they struggled to get a win against Torino. This time, against Siniša Mihajlović’s Bologna there should be goals on both sides. Read our reason for Atalanta vs Bologna prediction and betting tips.
Atalanta played below their usual level against Torino in the first round of the Serie A but win at the last moment surely gave them a confidence boost at the start of the new season. They moved some pieces in the transfer market, Romero and Gollini went to Tottenham, Juan Musso joined them from Udinese, Duvan Zapata is wanted from several clubs just as Gossens, but Muriel scored in the early stages of the match and substitute Piccoli was the match-winner in the added time.
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini pointed out that his players were more focused on the draw for the Champions League group and got lucky in the injury time. “We didn’t play a great match in Turin and we recognized it, but I don’t think it was because we are unfit,” Gasperini said at a press conference. “We weren’t able to create much, we lacked speed, fighting spirit, and to be fair, also due to the difficulties our opponents created against us.” In the Champions League, Atalanta is drawn in a group with Villarreal, Manchester United, and Young Boys and they will try to repeat the success from the two previous years when they played in the knockout stages. In the midweek they added Davide Zappacosta from Chelsea to have a healthy replacement for injured Hateboer.
Atalanta: Musso; Toloi, Demiral, Djimsiti; Maehle, De Roon, Freuler, Gosens; Ilicic, Pessina; Muriel
Bologna under Mihajlović is lovely to watch, they are playing in highly entertaining matches and with them, on the pitch, there is always a rollercoaster of emotions. After 5-4 defeat to Ternana in the Coppa Italia, when they had 5-1 minus at one moment in the second half, Mihajlović was ashamed with their performance, trying to apologize to every fan of the club. The first game of the season in Serie A was very difficult. Bologna fought back twice to beat Salernitana with a defender Lorenzo De Silvestri rarely brace to defeat promoted club. Salernitana got the lead after Roberto Soriano’s red card and Federico Bonazzoli’s penalty. Ex-Torino right-back De Silvestri was calm to slot from few yards to equalize.
Salernitana got another lead after phenomenal Mamadou Coulibaly’s strike in the top corner but Marko Arnautović showed his skills a few minutes later. Austrian striker’s first touch was enough to claim a yard advantage against the defender and then score from just inside the penalty box. Salernitana lost their composure at the back, so De Silvestri scored after corner for the final 3-2. Mihajlović was pleased with the press conference, “The guys gave it all, we went down twice, but we had the patience and the desire to win. “Our problem will never be to score goals but avoid conceding. There is a reason if I always want De Silvestri in my teams,” the coach concluded. “He is one of the most mature players in the team, he can help us when things don’t go the right way, he must take on more responsibilities.”
Bologna: Skorupski; De Silvestri, Medel, Bonifazi, Hickey; Svanberg, Dominguez; Orsolini, Vignato, Barrow; Arnautovic

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
