Augsburg is the only team in this season’s Bundesliga without a goal, and they must play against a team that scored five in two matches. Leverkusen played great football last weekend and they are the favorites to win again. Read our reason for Augsburg vs Leverkusen prediction and betting tips.
Looking at the standings it is more than noticeable that Augsburg has one big problem. Without a goal in two games must be a frustrating start for the team that most of the points gather relying on the good defense but without goals in rival's net, it is impossible to win. They lost attacking jocker from last term, Alfred Finnbogason who scored some vital goals in the previous season. Florian Niederlechner has some injury issues but should be fit to fill the role of the lonely striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Players behind him, attacking midfielders, must raise the level of performances because, Caligiuri, Hahn, and Vargas are capable of creating havoc in opponents' last line, especially in quick transitions and counterattacks. Ex-West Ham defender Reece Oxford will lead the central defensive unit with team captain Felix Uduokhai. They should be reliable as always but Augsburg must find more ways to be in the final third and score. Their trademark set-pieces failed to deliver until now and without goals from dead-ball situations they will be in big problem sooner than later.
Augsburg: Gikiewicz - Gumny, Oxford, Uduokhai (c), Iago - Maier, Dorsch - Caligiuri, Hahn, Vargas - Niederlechner
Out: Civeja (pelvis), Moravek (groin), Strobl (ankle)
Doubtful: Finnbogason (ankle), Gouweleeuw (groin)
Coach: Markus Weinzierl
Leverkusen had the best performance of the season so far in the last round, as they demolished Gladbach 4-0 in the derby of the teams that want TOP4 finish. After 1-1 draw and a flat display, they needed something to boost their confidence with the new coach. Gerardo Seoane, ex-Young Boys coach must be pleased how the team responded after the Union Berlin game, and Leverkusen bosses were more than satisfied with the job they've done so far, on the pitch and the transfer market. After Leon Bailey transfer to Aston Villa, they needed someone to play on that level constantly and it is clear now that Moussa Diaby is the man to turn your attention to.
The young French player was by far the best Leverkusen player so far, putting rivals defenses in a trouble from the start of the season. With Jeremie Frimpong parring on the right side they have speed, skill, and power to give everyone hard time. It is reasonable to believe that Seoane doesn't have any reason to change the winning side after such a great performance in the last round, but with Florian Wirtz, coming off an injury, they can only get better sooner than later. Czech striker Schick, after a great run with the national team in EURO, is someone to look on the scoresheet every weekend but only because the whole team is playing to their potential.
Leverkusen: Hradecky (c) - Frimpong, Kossounou, Tah, Bakker - Aranguiz, Demirbay - Diaby, Wirtz, Amiri - Schick
Out: Alario (groin), Bellarabi (thigh), Fosu-Mensah (knee), Tapsoba (ankle)
Doubtful: Baumgartlinger (knee)
Coach: Gerardo Seoane

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
