Belarus host Wales at the Central Stadium (Kazan) in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifications and the match kicks off at 1 pm (UK) on Sunday, September 5. Read our reason for Belarus vs Wales prediction and betting tips.
THREE POINTS CRUCIAL FOR BOTH SIDES TO STAY IN CONTENTION
A 4-2 win for Belarus in the opening round of these qualifiers seems a distant memory, as two losses on the bounce, has brought FIFA’s #89 ranked nation back to reality. Although going down just 1-0 to the Czech Republic in midweek may be considered a decent rebound after suffering their biggest-ever defeat the round before, an 8-0 thrashing by Belgium. On the other hand, although regarded as a better team today than most of the past, Wales travel to Kazan with a depleted squad due to injuries - including to Aaron Ramsey - as well as visa issues. They’ll see this game as a must-win, and can draw on the last time these teams met in a WCQ group - that was for the 2002 finals, where Wales’ only win came vs Belarus!
THE WHITE WINGS ARE CLEARLY INFERIOR
Belarus suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Czech Republic in midweek, making qualification from Group E look like an uphill task despite only three games being played. The Belarus squad is very inexperienced at this level with just one player, Maksim Skavysh, boasting over 20-caps. The majority of the host's squad is home-based but there are a couple of exceptions. Forward Vitali Lisakovich scored a brace in the opening round vs Estonia and he’s the one to keep an eye on.
Appearing at a major tournament for the first time as an independent nation seems unlikely for the Belarusians, especially after claiming only a single victory in each of their last two WCQ campaigns. Couple that with beating a top-50 ranked team just once in nearly five years - and that was in a friendly vs Greece - and it could be a long road for manager Mikhail Markhel and his men.
WALES TO GET THEIR WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN BACK ON TRACK
Wales were in action on Wednesday evening but their game against Finland was just a friendly and the game ended in a goalless draw. The Welsh squad looks very similar to the one that performed well at Euro 2020 with the exception of Connor Roberts, Aaron Ramsey, and Kieffer Moore. Gareth Bale will lead the side in Belarus and with a player of his talent in your starting eleven, you always have a chance of winning the game.
The Dragons are looking to avenge a disappointing 4-0 exit in the Round of 16 to Denmark at Euro 2020, by attempting to qualify for their first WC finals since 1958! Interim Wales boss Robert Page has described going to the Russian city of Kazan for this fixture as a “logistical nightmare” but a professional approach is assured. On paper, Wales have the stronger squad and really should be winning this game.

Other than the Real Madrid man, Wales don't have any proven goalscorers at the international level in their squad which is one of the reasons we're expecting a low-scoring 90-minutes on Sunday. Also, less than 2.5 goals have been scored in the last two meetings between the pair as well as in Belarus's last match against the Czech Republic and five of Wales's last six fixtures, so you can see why BettingKick’s Belarus vs Wales prediction is: Under 2.5.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
