Blackpool host Fulham at the Bloomfield Road (Blackpool) in the 6th round of the 2021/22 Championship season and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, September 11. Read our reasons for Blackpool vs Fulham prediction and betting tips.
BLACKPOOL VS FULHAM: STATS & FACTS
In all competitions, Blackpool have only won one of their last 19 games against Fulham (D6, L12) and the fact that this is the first meeting between Blackpool and Fulham in any competition since April 2015 doesn’t mean that things are going to be any different for the ’Pool. Going back to their last appearance in the division in 2014-15, Blackpool are winless in their last 23 Championship games (D8, L15), while Fulham are looking to win five consecutive league games for the first time since February 2018, having won their last four by an aggregate score of 12-2. Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is at the top of the Championship Golden Boot table with four strikes for the Cottagers, is in a rich vein of form, and Fulham are rightfully seen for an immediate promotion to the Premier Leauge.
BLACKPOOL VS FULHAM: PRE-MATCH TALK
After winning promotion to the Championship in his first full season in senior coaching, Neil Critchley is being tough some tough lessons in the second tier of English football. The former Liverpool under-23’s manager transformed Blackpool last to promotion winners, but they haven’t been afforded the same chances after going up a level. The Seasiders are five matches into the season and currently sit in the relegation zone, having picked up just two points in that period. They were good points on the road against Bristol and Bournemouth but they’ve yet to pick a point up at Bloomfield Road and a late defeat against Millwall wasn’t the best way to go into the international break.
As for Fulham, following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, the Cottagers have responded in extremely impressive style at the start of this season. Marco Silva’s side have claimed 13 points from a possible 15 in their opening five league games, putting them top of the Championship table as we reach the September international break. However, there are still some issues, first and foremost defensively, that Silva will no doubt want to address as he aims to fine-tune his side for their latest bid to make a swift return to the top-flight of English football this season.
BLACKPOOL VS FULHAM: TEAM NEWS
Simon Sadler has backed Critchley this summer with signings in abundance, and by the end of the window, he had added 13 new faces to his squad. Three of those were done on deadline day, with Jordan Gabriel and Dujon Sterling arriving to bolster options at right-back and winger Owen Dale was a loan signing from Crewe Alexandra. None of the trio have had much game-time this season so far but with results to start the season poor at Blackpool, Critchley may have an idea in his head to start at least two of them when the Seasiders take on Fulham next Saturday.
Meanwhile, though Aleksandar Mitrovic keeps on terrorizing defences in Serbia’s national team and will be roaring to go at Bloomfield Road, new signing Rodrigo Muniz will also be keeping him on his toes at Craven Cottage. Apart from Muniz, Silva sealed the signings of Harry Wilson, Paulo Gazzaniga, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Domingos Quina, all of whom represent either an upgrade on a player the Portuguese manager previously had in a position or simply adding further depth to a particular area of his team. With few injuries to his side, Silva’s Fulham will go for the three points.

Fulham have been very impressive under new manager Marco Silva and are unbeaten under the Portuguese. They have scored thirteen goals in five games so far (most in the league), and conceding only three in the process (fewest in the league), and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six games against The Seasiders. The ’Pool, on the other hand, haven’t gathered pace as of yet and are on a five-game winless streak. In all honesty, it should extend to six against Fulham.
