Celta Vigo and Getafe face off at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos, both eager to improve their inconsistent La Liga campaigns. Currently sitting mid-table, Celta has shown glimpses of offensive prowess, while Getafe has focused on a solid defensive approach. With both teams facing challenges in converting performance into results, Monday's game promises a battle of contrasting styles as Celta seeks a long-awaited home win and Getafe aims to extend their unbeaten streak.
Celta Vigo has had a season marked by ups and downs, with a record of four wins, one draw, and six losses in their first 11 matches. Despite their lower-half position in the table, they’ve displayed offensive promise by scoring 17 goals—among the highest in La Liga, trailing only Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Villarreal. Claudio Giraldez's side, however, has struggled defensively, conceding 20 goals, which ranks as one of the worst defensive records in the league.
In their recent La Liga matches, Celta's form has been mixed. They’ve suffered defeats to Real Madrid and Leganés, though both games saw competitive performances for much of the match. Their inconsistency is reflected in losses that could have been avoided with better finishing. Despite this, Celta secured a morale-boosting 5-1 win over San Pedro in the Copa del Rey. Giraldez, recently extending his contract, aims to lead his side to more consistent performances, particularly at home.
Getafe, meanwhile, has been solid defensively but lacks finishing power upfront. Sitting in 16th place with only 10 points from 11 matches, they’ve managed just one win but have stretched their unbeaten run to four games. With only eight goals scored—the joint-worst in the league—Getafe has leaned on their defense, conceding just nine goals, which is one of the best records in La Liga. Under Jose Bordalas, Getafe has shown resilience, particularly in grinding out draws against Valencia, Villarreal, and Osasuna.
The capital side has had trouble on the road, going winless in away matches since April, but they gained a valuable point in their last away game against Villarreal. While Getafe has been difficult to break down, their lack of attacking output has led to several drawn games that could have been converted into victories with a sharper edge in front of goal.
In this match, Celta will likely aim to leverage their offensive strengths, hoping to exploit Getafe’s conservative setup by pushing forward with high pressing. Giraldez will count on Celta’s attacking talent, hoping for an early goal to unsettle Getafe’s defense. Conversely, Getafe is expected to focus on staying compact defensively, potentially aiming to hold out for counter-attacking opportunities. With players like Christantus Uche attracting attention, Getafe may also look to break quickly if Celta overextends in attack.

Given Celta’s stronger offensive output and Getafe’s solid defense, betting on under 2.5 goals could be a reasonable option, as Getafe will likely focus on containment. A draw is also a plausible outcome, considering Getafe’s recent form of closely contested matches. For a more aggressive bet, Celta to win with both teams scoring might be worth considering, especially if Celta can break through early and put pressure on Getafe’s defense.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
