Chelsea host Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge (London) in the 4th round of the 2021/22 Premier League season and the match kicks off at 5.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, September 11. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs Aston Villa prediction and betting tips.
CHELSEA LOOKING FOR A LANDMARK WIN AGAINST PLUCKY VILLANS
This could be a landmark day for Thomas Tuchel’s title-chasing Chelsea as they will become only the second club after Man Utd to reach 600 EPL wins if they can record what would be a sixth victory in seven EPL home head-to-heads against Villa here. The evidence for a strong Chelsea title charge this season keeps adding up, nine of his 13 league victories in Tuchel’s charge have been accompanied by a clean sheet, yet one of the three defeats was against this plucky Aston Villa side. It’s been a mixed start to the campaign for Dean Smith’s new-look Villa, though some optimism remains that by season end they could be challenging for the European places. Fans will dream of an upset here considering two of Villa’s last three wins came as outsiders and the ‘Villans’ are likely to put on a positive display after scoring at least twice in four consecutive away games.
BLUES LOOK TOO STRONG FOR VILLA
Thomas Tuchel’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when Aston Villa come to town. The Blues saw their 100% winning record ended in their last league game, after being held at Anfield by Liverpool. Chelsea lost Reece James in that game, as he was sent off for a deliberate handball, which allowed the Reds a chance to level the scores from the penalty spot.
Kai Havertz had put the Blues ahead in the first half, but the second period was all about Chelsea hanging onto the point that they had. It is a system that has worked in the past for Tuchel and this Chelsea side, and they very rarely looked stretched with numbers behind the ball. Already hot favourites to win on Saturday, the Blues received another boost when completing the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on a season-long loan.
VILLA’S TEN-YEAR WINLESS RUN AT STAMFORD BRIDGE LIKELY TO CONTINUE
Villa have produced mixed results so far, with the highlight being a smooth 2-0 home success versus Newcastle. However, Dean Smith’s side had kicked off with a sloppy 3-2 loss at Watford and were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford at Villa Park last time out. Villa were missing John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey after they were forced to self-isolate while Tyrone Mings sat out with a broken rib.
Now, Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia will be absent due to quarantine regulations after joining up with Argentina, which could make the visitors more vulnerable. Villa claimed their first win against Chelsea since returning to the top-flight on the final day of last season and this game last season ended in a credible 1-1 draw on the road for the Villa. With all this in mind, Dean Smith will gladly settle for another draw here.

Chelsea’s home record will be integral if they are to win the Premier League title this season. They have already been dominant at home this season, and it looks hard to see past them claiming a second straight victory at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa. Villans side is weakened by South American shenanigans, although they very rarely give you an easy game. Nonetheless, it's hard to go for anything other than a Chelsea win as our BettingKick’s Chelsea vs Aston Villa prediction!

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
