Croatia didn’t concede against Russia and Slovakia, and if they do something similar against neighbors from Slovenia, this should be enough for a valuable win. Read our reasons for Croatia vs Slovenia prediction and betting tips.
After a goalless draw in Russia, Croatia won five minutes from time in Slovakia. That long-distance goal from Inter midfielder Brozović was enough to seal three points for world vice-champions that desperately needed the win to increase their chances to clinch the top spot. Before and after that goal Slovakia was a better team, had many decent chances, but Croatia got a little bit lucky. First of all, they had great goalkeeper Ivušić, who jumped in the starting lineup after Livaković got injured in the training. Osijek goalkeeper had some marvelous saves and deserved the man of the match award despite that beautiful Brozović hit in the last minutes of the game.
The Croats have a lot of problems, especially when there are no leaders like Modric in the team. Coach Dalic did not invite central striker Petkovic for this qualification cycle, so they had to change the style of play and roles of some players in the last third of the attack, often playing with a false nine. It seems that Dalic is not sure what he should do to make the team play better, so he announced the third change in three games, the Hajduk striker Livaja will start the match against Slovenia in the hope that he will shake up the inactivity and lack of goals.
Croatia: Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Vida, Sosa; Pasalic, Brozovic, Kovacic; Vlasic, Livaja, Perisic
Slovenia defeated Croatia in the first qualifying match 1-0. That was a great win to gain self-confidence in the tough group with the three teams that were involved in the EURO. They had a big mistake and recorded a defeat by Cyprus, which stopped them from being on the same number of points as Russia and Croatia at the top of the standings. They are still in the competition for one of the first two positions, but a negative result against Croatia on Tuesday will take them far from their plan.
It is difficult to compare the match that was played in March with this one. Slovenia took advantage of all the mistakes of the Croatian team. They were very focused, disciplined, used their chance, and converted into a winning goal. Playing at home or playing at Poljud Stadium, in Split, in a fiery atmosphere, the best in Croatia, but also in the region, is a completely different feeling. It is very difficult to repeat two of the same games against a top team such as Croatia, as the national team coach Kek and one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Jan Oblak, said at the press conference before the match. Slovenia's first plan is to keep the clean sheet, and if they succeed, they have finished half of their work.
Slovenia: Oblak; Balkovec, Mevlja, Blazic, Stojanovic; Zajc, Stulac; Mlakar, Lovric, Ilicic; Sesko

Croatia is the favorite in every match in the group. The level of form and game of the team that was second in the world a few years ago is not at the highest level. This will be their third game in seven days and it is difficult to expect a spectacular match. BettingKick’s Croatia vs Slovenia prediction is: Under 2,5 goals.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
