Denmark meet Scotland at the Parken Stadium (Copenhagen) in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifications and the match kicks off at 7.45 pm (UK) on Wednesday, September 1. Read our reason for Denmark vs Scotland prediction and betting tips.
DANES TO BE TOO MUCH FOR THE STUBBORN SCOTS
Denmark’s spirited Euro 2020 display took them to the brink of the final, but will now look to break Scottish hearts as they aim to continue their 100% winning start to this World Cup Qualifying campaign (W3). Fourteen goals scored and zero conceded represents their best-ever start to a WCQ campaign, and they’re big favourites to keep the momentum going here against Scotland in the first competitive head-to-head since the 1986 World Cup. Considering there are three potential second-place contenders in Group F, if Scotland are to progress they'll surely have to get something from Denmark. However you have to go back to 1975 and a Kenny Dalglish-inspired side to find the last time Scotland won against the Danes, a man the Scots would have loved to have had during their winless Euro 2020 venture (D1, L2).
HISTORY REPEATING? DANISH FIRST EVER WORLD CUP FINALS GOAL CAME VS SCOTLAND
Denmark kicked off their campaign with a nice 2-0 victory in Israel before thrashing Moldova 8-0, with Kasper Dolberg and Mikkel Damsgaard both bagging doubles. Kasper Hjulmand’s side then enjoyed a cracking 4-0 triumph over a decent Austria outfit in Vienna, including a double for Skov Olsen. The Danes also played a prominent role at Euro 2020 in spite of a dramatic 1-0 defeat vs Finland, which featured Christian Eriksen’s horrible collapse.
Nonetheless, it’s been nearly three months since the harrowing scenes involving Christian Eriksen at this very stadium, but the Danes responded to that in impressive fashion, outshooting their opponents 61-13 in the goal attempt stakes across their three Euro 2020 games at Parken Stadium and they’ll look to attack from the off again. Losing Jannik Vestergaard to injury is a blow though, but this settled squad, captained by Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel, still looks rock solid.
SCOTLAND’S CAMP DISRUPTED BY CALL-OFFS
Scotland’s appearance at the Euro 2020 did not go to plan, even if a goalless draw away to England prompted wild celebrations. Despite their winless adventure, it was still seen as progress as Scotland featured in their first major tournament since the 1998 World Cup. They remain unbeaten in this WCQ campaign though (W1, D2), and that’s despite fighting back from a losing position on three separate occasions, showing this squad has grit in abundance.
Steve Clarke’s side had previously done okay in this competition, drawing with Austria and Israel before a 4-0 thumping of Faroe Islands. Injuries and Covid issues have hampered preparations for this contest, though. Midfielders Scott McTominay and Stuart Armstrong were already ruled out and were also joined by Celtic duo James Forrest and Greg Taylor. Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson and Aston Villa’s John McGinn have also been sidelined by Covid restrictions, but Clarke’s side will still be competitive.

This is the first meeting between Denmark and Scotland since March 2016 in a friendly, with the Scots winning 1-0 at Hampden Park. Scotland are unbeaten in World Cup qualifying Group F with five points from three games but will be stretched when visiting Denmark. The Danes rattled off a hat-trick of wins in this pool back in March before earning plenty of new admirers for their Euro 2020 heroics. Denmark have six wins to Scotland’s 10 and we expect them to close the gap on Wednesday night.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
