Dortmund had a hard time, as expected, in Freiburg, but they have the opportunity to bounce back against unbeaten Hoffenheim on Friday. Read our reason for Dortmund vs Hoffenheim prediction and betting tips.
Freiburg showed to Dortmund and the rest of the Bundesliga they are the same team as the last term, concrete, firm, disciplined, and willing to pounce on the rivals' mistakes. Erling Haaland was stopped in the Black Forrest on Saturday after connecting with the net several times in the DFB Cup and at the start of the Bundesliga, and his super attacking powers must be at maximum when Hoffenheim arrives on Signal Iduna Park. Norwegian striker is in the media headlines every day regarding his eventual transfer to the next club and bigger market and he is certainly upset with the rumors around his near future. He looked kinda nervous in the last two games in the Bayern in the Super cup and Freiburg, but that could be because his team lost both matches.
Grifo scored directly from the free kick in the 6th minute to give Friebruga a lead, but then Dortmund dictated possession, and Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland forced saves from Mark Flekken. England international even hit the post after American Reyna curled in from the corner. Dortmund’s left-back Nico Schulz then came off injured before the break and broaden the injury list for Dortmund early in the season. Freiburg doubled their lead with a Sallai header, but six minutes later Yannik Keitel scored an own goal from Felix Passlack's cross for the Dortmund consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat.
Dortmund: Kobel - Can, Akanji, Hummels, Guerreiro - Bellingham, Witsel, Dahoud - Reyna - Haaland, Reus (c)
Out: Coulibaly (knee), Hazard (ankle), Morey (knee), Schmelzer (knee), Zagadou (knee)
Doubtful: Schulz (thigh)
Coach: Marco Rose
Hoffenheim started the season on a high note, grabbing four points from two games. Andrej Kramaric is the main reason for that, after providing four assists in a 4-0 win at Augsburg and a 2-2 home draw with Union Berlin. After they conceded early, Kevin Akpoguma headed in from Angelo Stiller for Hoffenheim leveler. Jacob Bruun Larsen then collected a splendid Kramaric’s pass to make a complete turnaround at the stroke of halftime, but Awoniyi's was focused enough to score for final 2-2 after a rebound in the second minute of the second half.
Kramaric will probably be the key for Hoffenheim in the next game because his goalscoring record against the host of this match is fantastic. Croatian international who struggled at EURO scored 7 goals in 8 matches vs Dortmund and looking at their defense he has the potential to add some more on Friday. Dortmund has problems with speed in the last line. Emre Can probably will play as a right-back and he is far from his usual standard, especially in that role. This could be a major factor for Hoffenheim to show potential against one of the contenders for the TOP4 finish at the end of the season.
Hoffenheim: Baumann - Akpoguma, Posch, Vogt (c), Raum - Rudy, Stiller - Baumgartner, Kramaric, Bruun Larsen - Rutter
Out: Bicakcic (knee), Hübner (ankle), Nordtveit (thigh)
Doubtful: Bebou (match fitness), Kaderabek (calf)
Coach: Sebastian Hoeneß

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
