Fiorentina has every reason to believe that the first game of the season wasn’t a true indicator of their capabilities. Torino played good enough against Atalanta but lost in the final moments. Read our reasons for Fiorentina vs Torino prediction and betting tips.
Vincenzo Italiano’s debut on Viola’s bench gave Fiorentina’s fans a glimpse of something that this talented coach did the last term with Spezia. Fiorentina lost 3-1 vs Roma away, lost goalkeeper because of the red card early, but performance-wise, that was more than a decent game for a start of a new era. “I was satisfied until they were 2-1 up, we played on par despite being down to ten men,” Italiano told media. “We made a huge mistake by dropping the intensity we had had before the draw, it’s a pity to lose a game played with this mentality. Perhaps we thought we had the game in our hands before they scored the second goal,” the former Spezia coach noted.
Before the game, Fiorentina director Barone had claimed their best player and scored from the last season, Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović will stay at the club despite many rumors that elite teams from Europe had inquires about his transfer. With the team that didn’t lose many influencing players from the last term, Italiano has a much better group to work with than in Spezia. Argentinian striker Nico Gonzalez made his Fiorentina debut and showed some classy moves, his beautiful left foot but also a remarkable work ethic when Viola lost Dragowski because of the red card, fouling Abraham outside the penalty box.
Fiorentina: Terracciano; Venuti, Milenkovic, Igor, Biraghi; Bonaventura, Pulgar, Castrovilli; Gonzalez, Vlahovic, Callejon
Torino was just one minute away from the first point in the new season when Atalanta’s substitute striker Piccolin was left alone few meters from goal to score for visitor's win. Torino lost against Atalanta many times in the last several years, even 7-0 at home, so 2-1 defeat isn’t such a bad result but also didn’t reflect what the home team did in the match against an individually better rival. Luis Muriel scored an early goal for the visiting team and reminded immediately local fans about recent big defeats but Torino had the courage and strength to carry on, be a better team across the 90 minutes, score a lucky goal after deflected shot from Andrea Belotti. That wasn’t enough, one big mistake at the end, and they were severely punished, just to show them, they must be focused until the last whistle.
New Torino coach Ivan Juric watched the match from the VIP seat, as he served his suspension from the last season, but he must be satisfied with the effort. In football, everything is measured by the final result but this performance was far better than many in the last term. The best thing about this new Torino, they played without Belotti for most of the match, waiting for his transfer to Inter, and Simone Zaza who is injured at the moment. On the other side, their poor home run is ruining their chances of a better place in the standings. Granata has only won three times in their last 22 games at the Grande Torino stadium.
Torino: Milinkovic-Savic; Izzo, Bremer, Rodriguez; Singo, Lukic, Mandragora, Aina; Linetty, Pjaca; Belotti

This is a brand new era for both teams and coaches and after more than decent performances in the first round, it is difficult to write who is favorite. A goalscoring draw could be a favorable result for both teams. BettingKick’s Fiorentina vs Torino prediction is: Both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
