The new era in Torino, this time without Cristiano Ronaldo, starts on Saturday as Juventus will try to grab the first win of the season against promoted Empoli. Read our reasons for Juventus vs Empoli prediction and betting tips.
The last touch with the ball of Cristiano Ronaldo in Juventus shirt was in the dying seconds of the match against Udinese. Juve had the two-goal advantage, then Wojciech Szczesny had two major mistakes to help the hosts to equalize. Federico Chiesa’s cross in the sixth minute of stoppages was perfect, the towering header of Portuguese striker on the same level, the ball went behind Silvestri, but after several minutes VAR ruled it for marginal offside. Questions were raised even before the game, why Ronaldo was benched, Juventus tried to shut down rumors but on Friday, Man United confirmed transfer for Cristiano in big comeback to former club.
Life without Ronaldo shouldn’t be a big problem for Juventus as Alegri isn’t a great admirer of Portuguese striker who wants the ball on every occasion. Morata is a probably better option for a Juventus coach that returned to the club after two years of absence and experiments with Sarri and Pirlo that didn’t give much for the Torino team. Performance against Udinese showed that Alegri has to work on many aspects of the game with this team that first of all lost confidence in the last season. Quality, even without Ronaldo is there, and they have few days to add a striker or two to the roster. Without goalkeeper mistakes, Juventus would have three points and everything would look better but we must have in mind that Szczesny was by far the most constant performer in Juve shirt for a few years.
Juventus: Szczesny; Cuadrado, De Ligt, Bonucci, Sandro; Bentancur, Locatelli, Bernardeschi; Chiesa, Morata, Dybala
Empoli made a bright start to the new adventure in Serie A but ended with a defeat at home against Lazio. The hosts grabbed the lead within four minutes but Lazio made a great turnaround, scored three goals for halftime, and won deservedly. Empoli didn’t have the cure for inspired Sergej Milinkovic-Savic who scored the header for the equalizer, assisted for Lazzari in a few minutes. On the other side, Empoli fought bravely for 90 minutes, hit the woodwork, made several chances as Lazio had a goal-line clearance to preserve three points.
After rejoining Serie A they made some notable transfers and they are still trying to reinforce the roster. Patrick Cutrone has arrived from Wolves to find more playing time, and Inter has officially sent striker Andrea Pinamonti on loan. This striking duo often played together for the Italy Under-21 side so they will not need too much time to gel in the attack. Lorenzo Tonelli’s returned from Sampdoria to his boyhood club, the 31-year-old defender graduated from the Empoli academy in 2010, then played for Napoli and Sampdoria. His experience as a central defender and passion to help his first club in his career will raise the defensive level of the whole team.
Empoli: Vicario; Stojanovic, Ismajli, Romagnoli, Marchizza; Ricci, Stulac, Bandinelli; Bajrami; Mancuso, Cutrone

Juventus will try to overcome everything that happened in the last week with a comfortable victory but they are too prone to mistakes in the last line. Empoli is the team that has quality upfront, so problems with them are to be expected in every game. BettingKick’s Juventus vs Empoli prediction is: Both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
