Leicester host Napoli at the King Power Stadium (Leicester) in the 1st round of the Europa League group stage and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Thursday, September 16. Read our reasons for Leicester vs Napoli prediction and betting tips.
FAVOURITES IN GROUP C LOCK HORNS AT THE START
Brendan Rodgers' men had a great chance of making a real impact in the competition last season but fell to a rather tame defeat to Slavia Prague at home in the second leg of their Round of 32 tie having secured a goalless draw away. He'll want to do better this season, but they are up against Luciano Spalletti's side who will be on a high after an excellent start to the season - they defeated Juventus 2-1 in Serie A at the weekend and have won all three matches in the league so far. However, Napoli are waiting to see whether they will be able to include David Ospina, striker Victor Osimhen and defender Amir Rahmani for the clash, due to the usual isolation roulette these days. All things considered, a close match is on the cards.
FOXES YET TO HIT THE FORM
It has not been a terrible start for Leicester thanks to wins against Wolves and Norwich but the inconsistent Foxes are yet to find their rhythm. Kasper Schmeichel kept them in the game against the champions at the weekend but they were eventually undone by a Bernardo Silva goal as City gained revenge for their Community Shield defeat last month. Leicester did cause City a few problems early in the second half though.
Barnes and James Maddison are still to score or produce an assist this season while Kelechi Iheanacho, who ended last season in such good form, is yet to be handed a start. New signing Patson Daka has only made one appearance off the bench too so Leicester have looked too reliant on Vardy once more. Rodgers may opt to freshen things up but that would mean bringing in players who are short of game time so chances may be at a premium against a well-organized defence.
NAPOLI FLYING HIGH IN SERIE A
Napoli ended last season with a nine-match unbeaten run which propelled them up to the fifth place and they finished just two points behind Serie A runners-up AC Milan. That momentum has been maintained under new boss Luciano Spalletti, who has begun his reign with three straight wins, the most notable of which saw them come from behind at half-time to beat Juventus 2-1 on Saturday.
'Napolitanos' have a good squad, and the addition of Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa makes their midfield extremely solid, but much will rely on the form of Fabian Ruiz and Victor Osimhen though. Only one of their six goals has been scored in the first half so a cagey opening could be in store. Leicester may take some time to get going if Rodgers freshens up his line-up and we’re expecting a slow burner at the King Power Stadium.

We're backing the first-ever meeting between these two clubs to end all square on Thursday. Leicester have only lost two of their 13 home matches in Europe, while Napoli have only lost one of their last 15 Europa League group stage matches. The Foxes have the home advantage and have only lost one of their last four games at the King Power stadium and Napoli are unbeaten in Serie A this season, so we believe the pair will cancel one another out.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
