Bayern will have the toughest test in the new season as they visit Leipzig on Saturday. Read our reasons for the Leipzig vs Bayern Munich prediction and betting tips.
Leipzig will welcome their ex-coach, as Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern wants to extend the winning streak against the former club. American Jesse Marsch had a mixed start in the new club with two losses as visiting team but they smashed Stuttgart at home, providing one of the best performances of the season so far. It is easy to see that Leipzig is still a work in progress, performances in defeats against Mainz and Wolfsburg were opposite to one where they delivered how Leipzig should play in every game. High pressing, aggressive on every ball, and direct in final third when they have a rival on the wrong foot, good at set-pieces and solid, without major individual mistakes at the back.
Leipzig lost in the summer transfer market two central defenders with many minutes in the last season. Konate went to Liverpool, Upamecano to Bayern, so it is an obvious reason why defense isn’t the best part of the team anymore. Josko Gvardiol and Mohamed Simakan are both talented and maybe with even more potential but they need time to gel with Lukas Klostermann and Willi Orban. As Leipzig is founded in 2009 and earned Bundesliga status 7 years later, there have only been 10 Bundesliga meetings between these teams. The only home win came in 2017/2018 as they beat Bayern 2-1 with Naby Keita now in Liverpool and Timo Werner now with Chelsea getting the goals after Sandro Wagner now retired from football and coach of Spielvereinigung Unterhaching had given the visitors an early lead.
Leipzig: Gulacsi (c) - Klostermann, Orban, Simakan, Gvardiol - Adams, Laimer - Szoboszlai, Olmo, Nkunku - Silva
Out: Saracchi (knee)
Doubtful: Angelino (hamstring), Halstenberg (ankle)
Coach: Jesse Marsch
Nagelsmann had a shaky start at Bayern bench, as his debut at Gladbach ended with just a point. Rival had an upper hand in that match, were closer to victory and Bayern didn’t look as good or even confident at that moment. As many times before, Bayern changed things around, now even quicker, as they beat Koln and Hertha Berlin in impressive attacking performances, scoring 8 goals in two matches. They also won the DFB Super Cup trophy against Dortmund, so with the first title in his coaching career, Nagelsmann checked something from his bucket list. He knows his ex-team very well, as the core of the Leipzig roster is almost the same, and Marsch comes from the RB system that is more than familiar to Nagelsmann after few years in charge of Leipzig.
These teams played some intriguing games, as you never know or even predict the outcome. There were some boring goalscoring draws, as Leipzig was the last team in the Bundesliga that had a clean sheet against Bayern. On the other hand, in season 2016/2017, they played one of the most beautiful Bundesliga modern era games. Bayern won 5-4, scoring three goals in the last six minutes of regulation and added time for the big victory. It is easy to motivate the team to play against Bayern and that should be an ace in the hand for Marsch, but Nagelsmann will enjoy having his almost whole team back from the duties with national teams.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Stanisic, Nianzou, Süle, Hernandez - Kimmich, Goretzka - Gnabry, Müller, Musiala - Lewandowski
Out: Coman (calf)
Doubtful: Davies (knee), Tolisso (calf), Upamecano (thigh)
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
