Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield (Liverpool) in the 3rd round of the 2021/22 Premier League season and the match kicks off at 5.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, August 28. Read our reasons for Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction and betting tips.
PLENTY OF ENTERTAINMENT ON OFFER AT ANFIELD
Both the Reds and the Blues have 100% records in the league so far, winning six points from six. They have identical scoring rates, finding the net five times and keeping a pair of clean sheets. That has appeared to underline many people’s thoughts that both clubs are in strong positions to mount a sustained title challenge this term, but Saturday’s match will represent the first serious test of those credentials that either side have faced. At least one side involved in this match will lose their perfect record but will that be Liverpool, Chelsea, or both? We’ll find out on Saturday evening.
REDS ARE BACK IN BUSINESS
Liverpool made it two from two last Saturday when beating Burnley 2-0 on their Anfield debut. It was another eye-catching performance with the team as strong in defence as they were impressive in attack. They stood firm at the back, creating plenty of chances going forward and playing football that was easy on the eye. Jota added to his tally for the season when striking the opening goal on 18 minutes before Mane got off the mark with a second on 69 to put the game to bed.
Fans wanted to see a response from Jurgen Klopp’s team this season, and the Reds have responded in the right way, bagging six points from the first two games. They have maximum points on the board alongside West Ham, Chelsea, Brighton and Tottenham. Which one of the early front runners will be the first to blink and drop points in the title race? Klopp will be hoping it’s not his Reds and that the stacked Anfield can inspire Liverpool to another triumph when they host Chelsea on Saturday.
CHELSEA MAKE STATEMENT OF INTENT
Chelsea travel to the home stadium of one of their biggest rivals and challengers for the Premier League title with a perfect start under their belt. The Londoners travel to Merseyside with six points collected from their first two games thanks to wins over Crystal Palace and London derby rivals Arsenal. Having lifted the Champions League trophy last season under Thomas Tuchel, it was no surprise to see them picked as one of the pre-season favourites to return to the top of English football.
The Blues brought the curtain up on their season with a faultless win over the Eagles in the first of a London derby double-header and there was more to come from them on week two, as the Blues bettered old rivals Arsenal at the Emirates. Chelsea didn’t spare Arteta a second thought and got down to business, winning 2-0 across the city thanks to goals from Lukaku and James. The exciting thing for fans of Chelsea is there’s plenty more to come from this team as the season gathers pace.

The fact both teams have perfect records and believe they are good enough to challenge for the title means we are all set for a fascinating 90 minutes. This match pairs two exciting attacking teams and two strong defences. A draw wouldn’t be the worst outcome for either but expect to see Klopp and Tuchel go for the win. This game will be played at a frantic pace and this is also a fixture that tends to yield plenty of goals, with both teams having scored in 13 of the previous 19 clashes. There should be plenty of entertainment on show, which is why we back over 2.5 goals for the BettingKick’s Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction!

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
