Milan started the new season with a victory against Sampdoria away and another one against Cagliari could bring back memories of the last term when they were leaders in the Serie A for a long period. Read our reasons for Milan vs Cagliari prediction and betting tips.
Milan won in Genoa but didn't perform at the highest level, so Milan coach Stefano Pioli was delighted to hear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie will return to the roster after the international break. Both are key players for this team, in two different departments, and with them, Milan is certainly much better. The Rossoneri duo is currently out injured, Pioli must think on another opponent, who can be tricky as last on, as Sampdoria and Cagliari are sharing similar aims for the season. Avoiding relegation is a general goal for 12-13 teams in the league, and almost every one of them could be described as well-structured with the player’s desire to work and progress.
Milan on the other side, after few mediocre years, is striving to be on par with the best in the league. There are seven very strong teams and fight for the title until the end is expected. Milan’s last Serie A match with Cagliari was on a frustrating night when nothing seems to go right for Pioli's team. A 0-0 draw at San Siro against a team from Sardinia is fresh in memories but Milan is well aware, this is a thing from the past, and the future will look much brighter if they defeat Cagliari on a Sunday evening. Overcoming Sempilici’s team will be a tricky task but it is more than reachable if goalkeeper Mike Maignan performs on the same level as against Sampdoria. In that case, just one goal will make a difference.
Milan: Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud
The Sardinians opened their season with a 2-2 draw against Spezia and Cagliari in one game showed their two faces. They were like a world-class team for 15 minutes, which reminded us of Cagliari from the second part of the last season. Also, for the most of match against Spezia, they were bad, that reminded us of Cagliari from the first part of the last season when they were dead last at one moment. There are many reasons to concern because of that, but also, because of the injury of their goalkeeper Alessio Cragno who is in doubt for the next match. Cragno, who got a call from Mancini as became a member of the national team has a muscular injury and he was by far, their performer last term. If Cragno does not recover, then Simone Aresti is the favorite to step in rather than Boris Radunovic.
Without Nainggolan, they will rely on Joao Pedro, who is probably playing his best football in his career and could be on the path for his best season. After transfer rumors, Nandez played good football and showed why several big clubs this summer are trying to lure him away from Sardinia. Midfielder Marin is finally on the level we expected when transferred to Ajax, but Diego Godin is still unfit for 90 minutes as years hit his stamina. Dalbert and Strootman will be reinforcements when they gel with teammates, but at the moment they are far from their best form.
Cagliari: Aresti; Ceppitelli, Godin, Carboni; Nandez, Marin, Strootman, Deiola, Dalbert; Pedro, Pavoletti

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
