QPR VS COVENTRY: STATS & FACTS
Despite conceding twice for the second Championship game running, QPR came from behind to draw 2-2 with Barnsley and maintain their unbeaten start to the season (W2, D2). The last time they opened a league campaign without losing in their first four games was back in 2013/14, a season that resulted in promotion. Goals have also been a recent theme, with the four-goal thriller at Loftus Road last Saturday making it six of their last seven league encounters to feature over 2.5 goals. As for Coventry, after back-to-back wins, they now go in search of three consecutive league triumphs for only the second time in 2021. Three wins in their opening four Championship contests came despite a disrupted pre-season due to Covid-19. Despite that, two of the wins featured winning goals in injury time, suggesting that there are at least no fitness issues in the camp.
QPR VS COVENTRY: PRE-MATCH TALK
QPR were forced to settle for a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Barnsley on Saturday afternoon. It was a battling point, but they’ll be disappointed after their poor start to the match. The Rs are still in contention with the teams around them in the Championship table, and if they can address their defensive frailties from this one moving forwards, then it won’t be too much of a concern. If the likes of Austin and Chair can stay fit this season, then Mark Warburton’s side could be the surprise contenders for promotion into the Premier League.
As for Coventry, days like this dramatic turnaround against Reading and the win over Nottingham Forest seemed like too distant a dream to think about not even half a decade ago, and yet such majesty in injury time has Coventry looking up yet again rather than over their shoulders - Sky Blues have soared high into fourth place in the early standings. They are more than making up for a lost time, and given all the troubles they have experienced off the pitch, nobody can begrudge them the scenes on it in the last two home games. Well, nobody outside of Forest and Reading circles, that is.
QPR VS COVENTRY: TEAM NEWS
Mark Warburton is hopeful Jordy de Wijs will be available for QPR’s game against Coventry this weekend. The injury-prone defender was substituted at half-time against Barnsley on Saturday because of an ankle problem. Both Thomas and Dozzell are likely to drop to the bench, with Ball and Adomah pushing for a start. The good news for the hosts is that midfielder Moses Odubajo returns from suspension.
On the other hand, due to a mostly available group of players, there is only the sole fitness worry for the Coventry boss Mark Robins to be concerned about. Tyler Walker (hip injury) misses out for this game, while Jamie Allen should be recalled to the starting XI after scoring as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Reading.

QPR’s boss Warburton will be hoping they head into the break near the top of the pack in the Championship with a win here to give them a major boost. The Hoops aim to extend their unbeaten run to five games, and they are surely capable of matching the Sky Blues at home ground. Coventry, on the other hand, head into the match following back-to-back wins over Blackpool and Reading, but seeing that they are not regarded as good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on the capital club.
BettingKick’s QPR vs Coventry prediction is QPR win.
