José Mourinho’s 1,000th game as a coach will be against Sassuolo on Sunday evening. Read our reasons for Roma vs Sassuolo prediction and betting tips.
Portuguese coach never lost a home game in Serie A in his career and this streak should continue on Sunday. Roma played good football at the start of the season, but their main stars Nicolò Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini are not fully fit after international duty. Mourinho warned Roma fans that his team is far from achieving anything after two games, but was pleased with the mature start and atmosphere in the team. Like many other clubs, they are struggling to put together the best starting lineup as most players had duties with their national teams. Zaniolo played for Italy but pulled out before the game against Lithuania with a knock to the thigh. He had two big knee injuries in under a year and he is still trying to find balance on and off the pitch trying to erase physical and psychological scars.
Mourinho showed his love for the commanding midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who is discussing a new contract with the club. The team captain is happy with the new project, Mourinho's arrival and he should stay in Rome for many years. Ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham fitted perfectly at the start of his career in Roma shirt, but he made an immediate impact. Roma also played in the UEFA Europa Conference League and made a good impression with two wins against dangerous Trabzon. It should be fun to watch how Mourinho is handling expectations from Roma fans, who wait for the glory days for too long.
Roma (4-2-3-1): Rui Patricio; Karsdorp, Mancini, Smalling, Calafiori; Cristante, Veretout; Carles Perez, Lo. Pellegrini, Mkhitaryan; Abraham
Suspended: none
Injured: Spinazzola
Sassuolo has collected four points from their first two Serie A games and after coach Roberto De Zerbi's departure, they are more than satisfied at the start of the season. Talented Giacomo Raspadori made some huge steps in the past month and Sassuolo counts on him heavily. They loaned Caputo to give him more minutes and he is already made an impact even in the national team. They also have Gianluca Scamacca who shoved his potential finally at Genoa the last term.
They don’t have any major injury concerns with just one player out. The core of the team is still there, Berardi stayed in the club despite several rumors that he wants out. If all the dots could be connected Sassuolo will be even more dangerous than in the last two seasons when they finished regularly in the TOP 10 clubs. They need a big win to turn the attention of the Italian media, and what is better than to ruin Mourinho’s 1000th game in charge.
Sassuolo (4-3-3): Consigli; Toljan, Chiriches, Ferrari, Rogerio; Lopez, Frattesi; Berardi, Djuricic, Boga; Raspadori
Suspended: none
Injured: Obiang

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
