Sassuolo changed coach but didn’t change style and a 3-2 win against Verona in the first round proved that theory. Sampdoria wasted many chances against Milan, but with D’Aversa on the bench, they will be a tough rival against anyone. Read our reasons for Sassuolo vs Sampdoria prediction and betting tips.
The transfer market in Italy started earlier this summer with many coaching changes. Among many, Roberto De Zerbi left Sassuolo, and more than talented, now ex-Empoli coach Alessio Dionisi filled his role. They are a work in progress once again, but this time, there were just a few changes in the roster, so the new coach has already got an assembly of players capable of claiming another TOP10 finish. Sassuolo is without Locatelli that went to Juventus, Berardi is trying to move away in the last days of the transfer market, but even without them attacking the potential of Sassuolo is awesome.
As in the last season, they are creative and agile, but defense is shaky at the start, Verona scored two goals with a man less on the pitch as Miguel Veloso saw red in the first half for two yellows in a few minutes. It will be a statement season for Giacomo Raspadori who can play in any role in the final third, and with Filip Djuricic, Caputo, Boga, and Junior Hamed Traore, Sassuolo has all they need to score many goals against all rivals in Serie A. If they lower individual defensive mistakes they will be even more dangerous. Playing with four attacking-minded players at the same time could be risky, but will be surely great to watch.
Sassuolo: Consigli; Toljan, Chiriches, Ferrari, Kyriakopoulos; Frattesi, Lopez; Raspadori, Djuricic, Boga; Caputo
Sampdoria had a hard job against Milan in the first round, but on the performance in the 1-0 defeat at the Marassi coach Roberto D’Aversa could build something special in the new season. Ex-Parma coach has a very ungrateful job to replace Claudio Ranieri at Samp bench and fan's minds as they developed a powerful relationship last term. Samp has a goal of avoiding relegation battle in the last years but coming from the low expectations they are always capable to jump in the middle of the table. Performance against Milan was good but they will need to find a replacement for Manolo Gabbiadini, who left the pitch with a nasty ankle injury. After Keita Balde left the club, returning from a loan to Monaco, they are short with strikers.
Samp had 52 points last term, and that is something that D’Aversa will try to surpass. They have a good roster, the team has a great atmosphere, Damsgaard and Thorsby stayed despite many rumors, and Keita and Jankto left. With healthy Candreva and Quagliarella, Samp can score in every match. Against Milan, they showed, they are capable of creating a lot, from both flanks, through the middle, from the set-pieces, but they didn’t put the ball into the net. Have in mind that Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was the man of the match.
Sampdoria: Audero; Bereszynski, Yoshida, Colley, Augello; Candreva, Thorsby, Ekdal, Damsgaard; Verre, Quagliarella

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
