Slovakia and Croatia are looking for a win after draws a few days ago against Slovenia and Russia in a very tight fight for a top spot in this group. Read our reasons for Slovakia vs Croatia prediction and betting tips.
After being stopped against Cyprus and Malta, Slovakia managed to return to the right path in these qualifications with a victory against Russia and a point against Slovenia. With a possible victory against Croatia, they would continue the excellent streak and significantly increase their chances of qualifying for the World Cup. At the moment, Slovakia does not have creative and lucid players who could make a difference on the field, so they are trying to reduce the number of mistakes through an organized, disciplined game and get their chance in front of a rival goal with set-pieces and counterattacks. That is why the results against worse rivals are unexpectedly bad, and against good, or better ones, unexpectedly good.
To reach Qatar, they are aware that they have to win a lot of points against all rivals in this group, so the match against Croatia is an ideal opportunity to make up for lost in the matches against Cyprus and Malta. The vice-champion of the world are not in their best shape, they are currently trying to change blood and give more chances to youth players, but this is not a time to experiment. If Slovakia reaches their maximum and Croatia doesn’t give their best, the home team could make a small surprise. They don’t have any issues regarding injuries or suspensions.

Croatia did not win in Russia, although they looked like a better team on the pitch. The final goalless draw is not a satisfactory result for a team that played good football at EURO. Croatia has a lot of problems in the attack, once again they had dominant ball possession, but they did not create many chances in the final third. This time, their coach Dalic tried to play without the classic central striker and probably made a mistake, only with the entry of the substitute Marko Livaja Croatia started to threaten more often, but there was a little time to do something better and score for the win.
Team captain Dejan Lovren tried to advise the coach to change tactics after the match. Zenit footballer believes that it is not enough for the team to play nicely with the ball in their feet, that is more important to score a goal and win the next match because in the end everything will be reduced to just one game, a final duel with Russia in Croatia. Changes are expected in the team, under the pressure of his words, but also of the media, the public opinion, as some strong arguments are made after the EURO and after the game vs Russia. Croatians are used to excellent results of the national team and being dominant in the qualifications for big competitions. Vida should return after suspension, as Guardiol and Ćaleta-Car are under question due to injuries.
Croatia: Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Vida, Sosa; Pasalic, Brozovic, Kovacic; Vlasic; Kramaric, Perisic

Slovakia will try to slow the rhythm and wait for their chance. Croatia must play faster, trying to exploit their good wingers, but is unknown how coach Dalić will handle the situation regarding the central striker position or again playing with the false nine. BettingKick’s Slovakia vs Croatia prediction is: Under 2.5 goals.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
