Atalanta confirmed their top tier of the league status last term and against unsettled Torino they will try to push for three points at the start of the season. Read our Torino vs Atalanta prediction and betting tips.
New Granata coach Ivan Juric left Hellas Verona because misunderstanding with the sports director and owner regarding transfer market activities. It looks like he will have the same problem in Torino as the Croatian coach has become increasingly frustrated at the lack of reinforcements, and also without his high profile attackers as both Andrea Belotti and Simone Zaza are carrying injuries. They didn’t have good preseason with some very scrappy performances and they sneaked through the Coppa Italia First Round on penalties against 10-man Cremonese and were jeered off the pitch. Torino is struggling for several years to find consistency on and off the pitch and it seems to be a rule rather than an incident lately.
They also lost veteran goalkeeper Sirigu, so rather untested Milinkovic-Savic will start at his place but the backline and most of the midfielders are still there. If healthy Marko Pjaca could be more than a useful signing but at the best, this roster is limited to be below the top ten places in the standings. If Torino loses their premier match in the new season it’ll be the first time they opened two consecutive Serie A seasons with a defeat since 1994 and 1995, against Inter and Fiorentina.
Torino (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Savic; Izzo, Bremer, Rodriguez; Singo, Lukic, Mandragora, Aina; Linetty, Pjaca; Sanabria
Suspended: None
Injured: Ansaldi, Zaza, Millico, Kone
Atalanta seems to be focused to start another Serie A adventure on a high note. La Dea kept most of their star names, but they will be without three probable starters in the first match because of the suspensions they received at the end of the previous term. They’ve changed goalkeeper but they should be more consistent and better as Juan Musso came from Udinese and Gollini left to be the second choice in Tottenham. The central defender Romero also left for London but they have several options at the back to fill this hole. The core of the group is still there and Gasperini was more than satisfied with the preparation camp for the new start.
They will have to make a big decision soon as Inter is more than interested to buy Duvan Zapata as a Colombian striker reached an agreement with Milan club but Atalanta is not willing to sell him below 30 million euros which are high for Inter at the moment. He is sidelined with an injury like Dutch wing-back Hateboer who will probably be out for a long period and Atalanta should try to make some adjustments and find a proper replacement for him in the transfer market. It will be unbelievable if the Bergamo team stays on the same level of performances in the last two years but everyone at the club is sure that they are capable of something similar.
Atalanta (3-4-1-2): Musso; Djimsiti, Demiral, Palomino; Maehle, Pasalic, Pessina, Gosens; Ilicic; Malinovskyi, Muriel
Suspended: Toloi, De Roon, Freuler
Injured: Hateboer, Duvan Zapata

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
