After confirming their Champions league spot just in the final round the last term, Juventus start their title hunt with a trip to Udinese on Sunday. Read our Udinese vs Juventus prediction and betting tips.
Udinese will try to establish themselves once again as a firm middle table Serie A team. After a few years battling to avoid relegation, they must make a jump in the standings. They changed a lot regarding the last season because their most valuable players left the club. De Paul is in Atletico Madrid, Musso went to Atalanta but they will not style and coach as Luca Gotti has been confirmed for another year. Roberto Pereyra, an ex-Juve player will try to fill the hole De Paul left, in a more familiar role for him as an attacking midfielder, and they are expecting big things from ex-Leipzig youngster Lazar Samardzic who will not play in the next match.
Udinese made short work of Serie B side Ascoli, winning 3-1 in the first round of the cup, with Pereyra as a star of the match. He first scored on the rebound from a parried Ignacio Pussetto strike, then assisted for Nahuel Molina and Pereyra was key for the third goal as he fired a shot underside of the bar for a big Udinese lead. Ascoli got a consolation goal late on with D’Orazio and now Udinese will face Crotone in the next round. Udinese is still busy in the transfer market, they signed 21-year-old Argentine center-back Nehuen Perez on loan from Atletico Madrid. Perez was regular for Argentina at the U23 level and was training with the senior Atletico squad. They are also waiting to confirm Nigeria's international striker Isaac Success who will come from Watford.
Udinese (3-5-2): Silvestri; Becao, Nuytinck, Samir; Molina, Pereyra, Walace, Makengo, Udogie; Pussetto, Deulofeu
Suspended: none
Injured: Nestorovski, Stryger Larsen
Max Allegri prepares for his second stint with the Bianconeri knowing that he has small chances to do worse than his predecessor Andrea Pirlo. Juventus lost the title after nine years and there is a big list of reasons why that happened, and Pirlo's inability to coach such a great roster was the key. Allegri is very familiar with everything Juve wants from him, knows the roster more than enough and he is a reliable coach who can make Juventus dominant in Serie A again. Their quest in searching for the Champions League glory cost him much last time. In these circumstances, the first aim for Allegri will be to bring back the title in Torino.
They didn’t change much from the last season, Manuel Locatelli has arrived but is not expected to be in the squad for the opening game. Dejan Kulusevski and Alvaro Morata will wait for their minutes from the bench, as the new coach will probably prefer an attacking trio with Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, and Federico Chiesa who will play on his favorable left side of the pitch. Juventus have a good tradition at Friuli, and they have won seven of their last eight Serie A games against Udinese, who have only one victory in the last 11 meetings – a 2-1 triumph in July 2020.
Juventus (4-3-3): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, De Ligt, Alex Sandro; Bentancur, Ramsey, Bernardeschi; Chiesa, Dybala, Ronaldo
Suspended: McKennie
Injured: Arthur, Rabiot

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
