West Brom host Derby at the Hawthorns (West Bromwich) in the 7th round of the 2021/22 Championship season and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Tuesday, September 14. Read our reasons for West Brom vs Derby prediction and betting tips.
THE BLUES TO SEE OFF THE RAMS
It was a frustrating day for West Brom on Saturday, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Millwall at The Hawthorns. Although that moves West Brom to the top of the Championship table, their four-game winning run in the league has now come to an end. Valerien Ismael’s side were below-par at The Hawthorns but games like that always happen in Championship. Valerian Ismael’s side are still undefeated and there are plenty of positive signs in B12. Meanwhile, Derby endured a frustrating night on Friday, as they were beaten 2-0 by Birmingham at St Andrew's. After their second defeat, the Rams need to dust themselves down and put the result behind them very quickly.
GETTING IT RIGHT AT BOTH ENDS FOR DERBY
The 2020/21 campaign was a tough one for all Baggies concerned as they meekly surrendered to Premier League relegation. There were concerns over all areas of the pitch as the gulf in quality between them and the majority of the league was laid bare. Albion conceded 76 Premier League goals last season, eight more than their nearest rivals Southampton. Furthermore, only Sheffield Utd [20], Fulham [27] and Burnley [33] scored fewer than their total of 35.
However, there has already been a noticeable difference under Ismael, though. Only QPR [14] have scored more than Albion’s tally of 13, while they rank joint-fifth for the fewest goals conceded [six]. If the same can be said towards the latter stages of the season, Albion will stand a great chance of promotion, either through the automatic slots or via the play-offs. There’s still a long way to go though, and Baggies need to respond against another strugglers, Derby.
DERBY CANNOT AFFORD TO DWELL ON DEFEAT
The Rams headed into the game at Birmingham in good spirits after managing to get off to a solid start to the campaign against the odds. That saw them suffer just one defeat in their first five league games. However, for the first time this season Derby delivered a performance that showed signs of weakness at the back and also highlighted their continued lack of cutting edge going forwards.
For the first time, their lack of squad depth might have told with some of their players unable to handle the intensity of Birmingham’s pressing. Derby now sit 16th in the second-tier standings, having taken six points from their six league outings so far and Wayne Rooney is having to get the maximum out of a very thin squad for the Rams to get results against teams like Birmingham this season.

West Bromwich are surely favourites for this match as they have better form than their rivals and home stadium advantage for this match. They will be in high spirits following their first position in the standings and will want to retain their domination in the Championship. On the other hand, Wayne Rooney’s team is without a win in their last three matches and have managed to accumulate six points this season. However, the hosts will want to secure the win without taking the damage, and the BettingKick’s West Brom vs Derby prediction is: West Brom to win to nil.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
