West Ham host Leicester at the Olympic Stadium (London) in the 2nd round of the 2021/22 Premier League season and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Monday, August 23. Read our reasons for West Ham vs Leicester prediction and betting tips.
FIRST TEST FOR TWO CONTENDERS FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOT
West Ham twice came from behind to eventually run out 4-2 winners over Newcastle. It was a dream start for West Ham as they won and actually scored more goals on the Premier League opening day than in their previous seven PL openers combined. Another victory here will show a real sign of intent from the Hammers against last season’s FA Cup winners and would prove to be the first time they’d opened a season with two league wins since 2009/10. As for Leicester, after dropping out of the top-four late last season, the Foxes have begun this campaign brilliantly, winning both the Community Shield and their opener vs Wolves (1-0), each without conceding. After another solid transfer window, the Foxes will be aiming to secure Champions League qualification this season.
BENRAHMA CAN COVER LOSS OF LINGARD
West Ham were one of the standout teams on the opening weekend of the new PL season, as the Hammers claimed a dramatic win on the road against Newcastle. Hammers roared back from 1-0 and 2-1 down to beat Newcastle 4-2 at St James’ Park. Goals from Said Benrahma, Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio in the space of 13 second-half minutes blew the Magpies away, proving that West Ham still pose a goal threat despite failing to sign inspirational Man Utd loanee Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal.
Nevertheless, Saïd Benrahma showed flashes of his lavish talent but also suggestions he can offer so much more. If he can similarly light up the London Stadium against Leicester, perhaps Moyes will find a post-Lingard solution lies in front of his eyes. Elsewhere, Antonio continued to terrorize the defences with his 47th Premier League goal for West Ham, equalling Paolo Di Canio’s club record. Things are certainly looking bright for the Hammers this season.
VARDY REMAINS THE MAIN MAN
Champions League qualification must be the aim for Leicester this season, and they got off to the best possible start against local rivals, Wolves. Jaime Vardy was the goalscorer of the winning goal in the game, as the English striker found the net five minutes before the break. The win now means Leicester have won their last two 1-0, which includes their Community Shield victory over Man City.
The Foxes will be keen to continue to build on the momentum that they have built up over the past couple of weeks, as a strong start would give them an excellent chance of finishing in the top four. Leicester finished fifth in the Premier League, one place above the Hammers, and won the FA Cup but they lost both meetings with West Ham last season, 3-0 at home and 3-2 at the London Stadium. Foxes have some injury issues at the back but a settled way of playing invariably makes them hard to beat.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
