Wolfsburg made a great start to the season with two wins, but Leipzig’s win against Stuttgart showed they are on the rise after defeat in the first round. Read our reasons for Wolfsburg vs Leipzig prediction and betting tips.
Wolfsburg is first in the standings as the only team that won two matches in two Bundesliga games of this season. New coach Mark van Bommel must be pleased with results but there is a lot of work ahead of him and players before he will be pleased with performances. After not so good display against Bochum, they had a hard time in Berlin against Hertha that was a better team in the first half. Lack of focus in the host's defense in the last 16 minutes gave them opportunities to score twice and turn the game in their favor.
Adding Lukas Nmecha to the roster was a prominent improvement, and even at the moment when he is currently unfit for 90 minutes, he shows the quality that is needed to help the team. He should be again on the bench for the derby match of teams that want another TOP4 finish, teams that represent Germany in the Champions League. They are still trying to find reinforcements in the transfer market, so they signed in the midweek German national player Luca Waldschmidt, attacking midfielder or even striker who came from Benfica. Wout Weghorst will lead the line again, but Riddle Baku on the the right side was their main performer at the start of the season,
Wolfsburg: Casteels (c) - Mbabu, Lacroix, Brooks, Roussillon - Schlager, Arnold - Baku, Philipp, Steffen - Weghorst
Out: Bialek (knee), Otavio (ankle), William (knee)
Doubtful: Waldschmidt (concussion)
Coach: Mark van Bommel
Leipzig had a nightmare in the first week after defeat vs Mainz but made a remarkable performance against Stuttgart last time out. It is not easy to win 4-0 in any game in the Bundesliga, especially with Stuttgart, a team that has the great attacking quality and big confidence after a big 5-1 win in the first round. It should be a season to remember for Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai who came from Salzburg in January but played just 107 minutes for Leipzig since the arrival due to injury.
Dominik was the main star of the show last Friday, scoring, assisting, doing everything he wanted in the middle of the park. Szoboszlai made everyone beside him a better player, and with him healthy, Leipzig is more dangerous on set-pieces. Sabitzer is still unfit and could start only from the bench, but Tyler Adams and Amadou Haidara have the quality and work ethic to make difference in the midfield with mighty Hungarian. One who is missed at the moment is left-back Angelino, but Josko Guardiol played good in his absence. Andre Silva scored from the penalty but is visible he needs time to gel with new teammates.
Leipzig: Gulacsi - Klostermann, Orban, Simakan, Gvardiol - Adams, Haidara - Szoboszlai, Forsberg (c), Nkunku - Silva
Out: Angelino (thigh), Halstenberg (ankle), Henrichs (knee), Saracchi (knee)
Doubtful: Laimer (muscular)
Coach: Jesse Marsch

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
