Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates (London) in the opening match of the 33rd round in the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Friday, April 23. Read our reasons for Arsenal vs Everton prediction and betting tips.
A last-gasp 1-1 home draw against lowly Fulham last time out, which saw Arsenal score their latest Premier League goal in over four years, has done little to improve the mood at the Emirates, as the ‘Gunners’ continue to flounder. Sat three points and a place behind visiting Everton in ninth, and having played one extra match, defeat for the Gunners here could push the club further towards their worst top-flight finish since 1994-95. On the other hand, Everton are without a win in six, though have drawn their last three. They should have beaten Tottenham last weekend but were undone by poor defensive mistakes. Everton haven't won away to Arsenal since 1996 but they should head down to London optimistic of getting at least a point.
The 2020/21 Premier League campaign arguably hasn’t gone as well as Mikel Arteta might have expected. At the end of last season, fresh from an FA Cup triumph at Wembley and an end to the campaign which saw the Gunners beat many of the top teams in the division, there was every reason to believe that Arsenal would go places this season. However, they’ve never really looked like doing so. Decent performances have often been followed by abject showings, and that’s why Arsenal are still languishing in 9th place and some 10 points from West Ham in the final Champions League place.
It has to be said that it isn’t easy to predict which Arsenal side will turn up on any given day at the moment. The Gunners were excellent when romping to a 4-0 win at Slavia Prague in the Europa League but then pretty average when drawing 1-1 with Fulham in the Premier League. In a game of few clear-cut chances and low on quality, it took substitute Eddie Nketiah’s 97th-minute effort to cancel out Josh Maja’s second-half penalty. It was another mediocre display in our book and the Gunners are just a hard team to rely on right now.
As for Everton, poor recent results mean that the Toffees are in danger of being cut adrift in the race for European football. Without a win in six competitive matches (D3, L3), their attack is standing out as their biggest issue. They followed up stalemates against Crystal Palace and Brighton by drawing 2-2 with Tottenham, with Gylfi Sigurdsson hitting a double. However, Carlo Ancelotti has not given up hope of qualifying for Europe next season and clearly felt that was a decent effort.
All things considered, Everton are enjoying a steady season under boss Carlo Ancelotti and are still hunting European qualification even though a poor recent form could hinder that push, as could the fact that the Toffees haven’t won a top-flight match at the Emirates in 14 attempts now (D4, L10). Regardless, the visitors have maintained fantastic away form all season, carrying the fourth-best PL record to date, and keeping three clean sheets in their last four league away games (W2, D1, L1).

Arsenal meet Everton unbeaten in their last 24 Premier League home games against the Toffees (W20, D4) since a 1-2 loss at Highbury all the way back in January 1996. However, Everton are looking to complete their first league double over Arsenal since the 1985/86 season, following their 2-1 win at Goodison Park in December.
Everton travel to face Arsenal on the back of three straight Premier League draws and we feel that trend could be extended at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have shared the spoils in half of their last six top-flight fixtures and these teams are sitting next to each other in the table.
