On Saturday 18 July at 7.45pm (UK), Arsenal host Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in London in the first semi-final of this year's FA Cup.
With their Europa League qualifications hanging on a thread, with them in the 9th place, three points behind Wolves with two more games to play, the Gunners turn their heads to FA Cup glory. This is their 30th FA Cup semi-final, while they have won it a record 13 times. If they beat Manchester City, and eventually lift the cup, they would secure themselves a Europa League place, and finish the season on a high with another trophy in the cabinet at the Emirates.
Manchester City are in the cruise-mode in the Premier League, rooted to the 2nd place as runners-up, and in a fine form of their own, having scored 12 times in their last three Premier League matches. They have won the cup six times, with their most recent win in 2018/2019. They will be as hungry for trophies as ever, and as Pep Guardiola put it, to win this trophy would be the best possible way to prepare for the second leg of their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.
ARSENAL VS MANCHESTER CITY MATCH ANALYSIS
Arsenal will head into this match as outsiders, although their history in the competition would suggest otherwise. However, they haven't lift any silverware since their last FA Cup win three years ago. Even though a victory against champions Liverpool will boost their morale ahead of this match, there is nothing to suggest that their form has improved, as Liverpool's defensive mistakes gave them the goals in midweek.
They were thoroughly outclassed by Manchester City in their first game after restart (3:0), and have lost their last seven head-to-head fixtures. Tellingly, their last head-to-head win was in the FA Cup semi-final. Biggest task for Mikel Arteta would be how to steady that error-prone defence, but it must be said that their 3-4-3 formation was somewhat of a success lately, having beaten Southampton, Sheffield United and Wolves, and having a good game against Leicester, that ended in a draw after Eddie Nketiah's was shown a red card.
Guardiola's men have had a successful season so far. They are still in the Champions League, finished 2nd in the PL, and after winning a Carabao Cup at the beginning of the season, have a chance to add another trophy.
They are overwhelming favourites coming into this match. City have scored three goals in six of their last seven head-to-head matches. Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have both scored 20+ goals this season in all competitions, making the absence of Sergio Aguero more bearable for the club.

On paper, there should be no doubts as to who is going to progress after this game, and Manchester City is almost unanimously given the edge over Arsenal in this game. However, they wouldn't call it 'the magic of FA Cup', if it hadn't been for the most surprising upsets and results over the course of years. Arsenal have their chances, history of the competition is on their side, but City would like to stay sharp and focused for what's next in store for them.
