ARSENAL VS SOUTHAMPTON MATCH ANALYSIS
With four of their twelve league matches won, and seven of them lost, they are sitting in the 15th place with 13 points, after their latest 0-1 defeat to Burnley at home on Sunday. They have now scored only two goals in their last eight league matches and have not had back-to-back wins since the first two fixtures of the season. As for Southampton, The Saints have completely turned their fortunes around since the beginning of the season and were on a seven-game unbeaten run (W5-D2) before they lost to Man Utd last week (2-3). They let Man Utd match slip out of their hands as they squandered a two-goal lead, but they recovered with back-to-back wins at Brighton (2-1) and Sheffield Utd at home (3-0) As a result, they are sitting in 4th with 23 points.
Mikel Arteta says that he is not worried about his position after his side slumped to their worst start to a season since 1981 with a defeat at home by struggling Claret & Blues. The Gunners are sitting in the wrong half of the table and have been beaten in their past four league matches at the Emirates Stadium. Given the number of absentees in their team, the Gunners must take their chances against the in-form Saints to end their rough patch of games and start climbing the table.
As for their latest, shocking defeat to Burnley, the Gunners failed to turn their dominance into goals in the first half of the match, and following Xhaka’s sending off, Arsenal’s misery was compounded by Aubameyang’s own goal that helped the Clarets spoil Arsenal’s party in London. The 1-0 loss leaves the north London side at the bottom half in the table and on a run of seven defeats in their past 10 league games. Mikel Arteta’s men are desperate to get back on course, but the game against the high-flying Saints will be anything but a walk in the park.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, on the other hand, looks different, a much more organized side than they seemed after back-to-back defeats at the start of the campaign. With the squad that includes in-form Stephens, James Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, and Ings, they have a strong core of the team, who shouldn't be in a similar situation to last year. They were frustrated to lose points from the winning position against Wolves (1-1)and the Red Devils (2-3) in rounds 9 and 10, but they had their own share of fortune on against the Seagulls (1-29 and were fantastic against bottom-fodder Blades.
On Saturday, the Saints moved into the Premier League's top four by sweeping aside Sheffield Utd. Che Adams poked in the opener, Armstrong scored a deflected second, and substitute Redmond off added a delightful third. The Saints' defense is well-drilled, their midfield a combination of hard-working and creative, while front two Adams and Danny Ings are among the most potent attacking forces in the league. With only one defeat in their past 10 games, maybe it is time for them to start dreaming big.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 25 home league games against Southampton (W18 D7), but the Saints drew this exact fixture with Arsenal 2-2 last season.
As for more damning facts about Arsenal, they have now lost four straight league games at home for the first time in 61 years, have gone 12 hours without finding the net from open play, and with four wins and a draw after 12 games, this is their worst start to a top-flight season since 1974-75.
Saints, on the other hand, have earned 23 points in this season's Premier League - only in 2014-15 have they had more after their opening 12 matches of a campaign.
The visitors did top the table very briefly earlier in the season and could do so once again with a win on Wednesday, and with no fresh injury concerns, Ralph Hasenhuttl will likely name an unchanged side.
