Arsenal host West Brom at the Emirates (London) in the opening match of the 35th round in the Premier League and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Sunday, May 9. Read our reasons for Arsenal vs West Brom prediction and betting tips.
Arsenal's season is basically over after being knocked out of the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday. They could remarkably finish in the bottom half of the table if they don't buck their ideas up in the league. West Brom are 10 points from safety with 12 left to play for. They will be relegated on Sunday if they lose at Arsenal, though with matches against Liverpool, West Ham and Leeds to finish the season they are basically down already. Sam Allardyce has suffered more defeats to Arsenal (21) than any other side in his long managerial career. West Brom also haven't even scored in five of their last six trips to the Emirates.
Arsenal’s Europa League exit leaves finishing in the top seven as their only route into Europe and failure to beat West Brom could all-but end that hope before they next play. The Gunners’ biggest margin of victory in the Premier League this season came in their 4-0 win at the Hawthorns, but inconsistency has been the theme, with their win at Newcastle last league outing meaning each of their previous 11 top-flight games saw a different match result to the fixture prior.
Since that 4-0 success, Mikel Arteta’s side have picked up just three home wins in the league (W3, D3, L3), and have actually claimed more points on their travels this season. Arsenal made eight changes for the trip to St James’ Park in between Europa League semi-final clashes with Villarreal but still returned with a 2-0 triumph. However, the Gunners have gone six home games in this competition without keeping a clean sheet and do have some injury worries at the back.
As for West Brom, they have had a good go at pulling off a great escape but their fate was all but sealed after only drawing 1-1 with Black Country rivals Wolves at The Hawthorns. Mbaye Diagne cancelled out Fabio Silva’s first-half fluke but the second-from-bottom Baggies couldn’t find the decider they so desperately needed. Albion have been caught out in the run-up to half-time on a number of occasions this season, conceding a division-high 15 times in the final third of the opening period.
The Baggies have been burdened with adversity all through their season this campaign, but it’s not something they would have not expected, considering they just got promoted. And much to their disappointment, they haven’t produced results or performances when given the chance, especially against teams that aren’t in the top four. A barrage of losses and draws have bludgeoned their hopes of survival this time around. And they must turn it around with this fixture. Easier said than done.

Arsenal meet West Brom having previously won 10 of their 12 home Premier League games against the Baggies (D1, L1). West Brom have also lost each of their last seven Premier League away games against Arsenal by an aggregate score of 15-1. Arsenal have scored in all 25 of their Premier League meetings with West Brom, the best 100% scoring record one side has against another in the competition.
Albion’s relegation from the Premier League will be confirmed if they fail to win and the omens do not look good, having already gone down 4-0 to the Gunners on home turf this term.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
