West Ham
2 - 1
Arsenal host West Ham in the second Premier League match of the season, which is also their second London derby in a row. The match kicks off at 3pm (UK) on Saturday, September 19 at the Emirates.
Arsenal finished last season on a high note, beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final and Liverpool in a Community Shield, thus setting up nicely for the whole new season under their new manager Mikel Arteta. That positivity has translated into a comfortable 0-3 win in their season opener last weekend against the oldest London's club, Fulham , and Arsenal will need more of the same at the Emirates when they face West Ham on Saturday.
David Moyes was brought in to salvage the West Ham's 2019/2020 season, and it's doubtful whether he actually did it or not. They did stay up in top flight, but the team with so many potential and individual quality should have performed better than struggling that late in the campaign. The way the Hammers opened this season, with a 0-2 home defeat to Newcastle, is hugely disappointing and in the game against Arsenal they will have to regroup and start again.
ARSENAL VS WEST HAM MATCH ANALYSIS
It's been 18 wins in the last 30 games for Mikel Arteta now and they feel a very good team. Confidence and belief are now tangible across the board at Arsenal. It seems like the short break has helped them retain the momentum from the back end of last season. Defensively they look far more solid with two new centre-backs in the building, with Brazilian defender Gabriel looking particularly impressive on his debut.
Looking at Arsenal, they are pretty much the same team, but Arteta added depth, youth and discipline. Pressing and hard work are on that list too. Also, Arteta is not afraid to change tactics which showed against Fulham, as Ainsley Maitland-Niles spent a lot of his game in midfield, with central defender Kieran Tierney playing almost as a left-back. Another encouraging sign were solid displays in midfield from Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka's, whose careers at Arsenal looked over last season.
As for the visitors, West Ham were far off from the form they showed at the end of the last season. It's been said that West Ham need new creative players, but Moyes need to consider his approach as well. They lined up too cautiously, with three defensive central midfielders, leaving Antonio too isolated up front. They were too slow on the ball, and with £120m worth of players sitting on the bench, it feels like their recruitment is at odds with clubs actual needs.
Everybody kind of knows what to expect from Moyes' teams. It won't be too pretty, and nobody can guarantee that it will be effective again. The right path for them is to add solidity, create a stable and safe way to achieve the best possible outcome, but for now, they don't look like a tightly-knit group of players. The change better be quick because they have a really tough schedule after this Arsenal match.

As for some stats and facts, they last faced each other in March when Arsenal won by a single goal margin (1-0). In their last 19 head-to-head matches Arsenal is overwhelmingly better with 15 wins and 2 defeats. They have drawn only 2 games in the last decade. During that time, Arsenal have averaged 2.42 goals per match and West Ham only 0.79 (3.21 in total). Over the last year's 30 matches, West Ham's W-D-L rate is 26%-16%-56%, and it looks like it's not getting better any time soon.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
