Aston Villa host Liverpool in the fourth round of the Premier League at Villa Park (Birmingham) on Sunday, October 4 and the match kicks off at 7.15pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Aston Villa got off to a good start in the Premier League, having won both games at the start. Against Sheffield United on their opening day (1-0), they were thoroughly deserving of their first Premier League win in 20/21. They followed it with even more impressive win against Fulham away (0-3) More importantly, they have continued the unbeaten run from the back end of the last campaign (W5,D2) and are yet to concede in the Premier League.
Liverpool have started the season with three straight wins, against newly-promoted Leeds in the home opener (4-3), and a tough away fixture in London against Chelsea (0-2) in the second week. They defeated their Thursday's Carabao Cup opponents Arsenal (3-1), most recently in the league, although the Reds had to come from behind. Salah and Mane have showed fantastic form in the first three games and the whole squad seems hell-bent on defending the title.
MATCH ANALYSIS
As for Villa, the early signs are promising and they may prove the doubters wrong as their manager Dean Smith believes his team are a better side this season. They have managed to keep most of the last year's stand-out players, namely Jack Grealish, forward Keinan Davis, England centre-back Tyrone Mings, while also signing Bertrand Traore from Lyon, who scored on his debut in a 0-3 win against Bristol in the third round of the Carabao Cup. At the start of a new campaign Villa have been more solid and aggressive defensively and their £28m record signing, forward Ollie Watkins has made an immediate impact up front. Villa look like a more settled team this season, and keeping the key players was probably the smartest decision they have made. After two successive wins they welcome the defending champions hoping to continue their unbeaten run.
Liverpool showed their hunger and ambition have not been diminished by the club's first title in 30 years against the Gunners on Monday. If anyone needed an answer to whether the success of their last campaign will lessen their appetite, it was obvious for all to see here. Meanwhile, last ten days were good for Jurgen Klopp's side off the pitch as well, as they have added elite quality to the team in midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who tested positive to Covid-19 and won't feature against Villa, from Bayern Munich and also strengthened the squad with the arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves. Last but not least, the Reds were knocked out from the Carabao Cuo after penalties in the fourth round in midweek, but there were a lot of positives to take from the game. Rhys Williams,19-year-old centre back, impressed alongside Virgil van Dijk and Jota only lacked a goal to capitalise on his all-round performance.

Aston Villa's start of the new campaign already betters their last year's 5 points from the first seven Premier League matches. However, against Liverpool, they were beaten in their last five matches and have shipped 3.6 goals in the process. They haven't conceded yet this time around but Livepool's attack will be the toughest test so far for Villa's defenders. Liverpool is joint-top of the league and with in-form Mane and Salah they have already beaten two of their top rivals. On the other hand, Jack Grealish has also been impressive for Villa and the game should be entertaining and exciting one as two in-form teams clash on Sunday.

Wyatt grew up in the suburbs of London and he is a big Chelsea fan. As a young boy, he found his love for football, which became an obsession, but when he tried playing it he soon realized that he just wasn't talented enough. Bearing that in mind, Wyatt decided to learn everything there is to know about all the teams and players, with special focus on Premier League and Championship . Wyatt has a big affection for Championship and he is well versed in all the teams and knows their advantages and weak spots very well. He is an economist, and being one makes him good with numbers and also good with the odds. His specialty are BTTS matches.
