Aston Villa host West Brom at the Villa Park (Birmingham) in the 33rd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Sunday, April 25. Read our reasons for Aston Villa vs West Brom prediction and betting tips.
Villa were narrowly beaten 2-1 at the Villa Park on Wednesday night by Premier League leaders Man City, who edged closer towards the title with another three points. Villa’s hopes of a European finish are slowly drifting away, but it’s still been an excellent season for them. Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce admitted West Brom's battle to avoid relegation is a 'tall order' after a 3-0 Leicester defeat on Thursday night. The Baggies now sit nine points from Premier League safety with six games left and even with all six wins from their last six games they can’t be absolutely certain of Premier League survival as they depend on other clubs' results as well.
It was a night of pure frustration at Villa Park as Man City out-passed and out-worked Aston Villa to condemn Dean Smith's side to their 13th defeat of the season. Villa raced ahead after just 20 seconds when John McGinn caressed home and, for 10 or so minutes, it was Villa who went toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions-in-waiting. Looking at it from another angle and Villa were once again without Jack Grealish. Yes, City were without Kevin De Bruyne but Guardiola's squad is decorated with incredible talent. Raheem Sterling didn't even get on last night, too.
Star performer Foden, meanwhile, highlighted what Villa have been missing in recent weeks: star quality. Here's hoping Grealish can provide that spark upon his return to help finish the season on a positive note. There was no disgrace losing to Man City, but perhaps it would’ve been a different game if Villa captain Jack Grealish had been available. It’s been noticeable how much they miss the attacker during his recent injury absence. If Villa are going to try to push on again next year, they do need to try add more depth to their group.
Meanwhile, not one player really had a decent game for West Brom in midweek. Sam Johnstone did well on a couple of occasions to keep the score down but if Leicester were really at their best, they would have stuck five or six past the Baggies. Albion’s midfield was flat with Okay Yokuslu easily having his worst match for the club since joining on loan from Celta Vigo in the winter and defensively, it was a mess. Also, up front, while he’s definitely the club’s best striker Diagne has missed so many chances for Albion now.
Anyhow, they'll have no time to dwell on the defeat when they head to Villa Park on Sunday. If for no other reason than to claim bragging rights on Sunday, Albion need to put this quickly behind them. Aston Villa on Sunday, then Wolves on Bank Holiday Monday. Victories are now all but a necessity on both occasions. For this Sunday, it is an opportunity to rediscover the form, a timely quick turnaround where this group can address their Leicester no-show. It's also a tad about vengeance - it seems an age since Allardyce welcomed Villa to The Hawthorns for his first match in charge.

Aston Villa meet West Brom having lost their last two home league games against the Baggies (excluding play-offs), as many as they had in their previous 21 such meetings at Villa Park (W2, D6, L13). However, Villans are looking to secure their first league double over West Brom since the 2008/09 season, when the Baggies were relegated to the Championship.
Both sets of fans will be desperate for bragging rights, but admittedly, the momentum is clearly with Aston Villa at the moment.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
