Atalanta fumbled the opportunity to take second place with their draw at Roma and now have another chance as they host Bologna. Read our reasons for Atalanta vs Bologna prediction and betting tips.
Gian Piero Gasperini slammed his ‘not good substitutes’ after Atalanta failed to make their domination count with Roma. ‘Some of the misses were shocking.’ La Dea had taken the lead through Ruslan Malinovskyi, but after missing several big chances and forcing Pau Lopez to save, Robin Gosens received a second yellow card. Bryan Cristante drilled in the equalizer and Roma threatened to win it late on. “It’s difficult to explain what happened in the second half because some of the chances we missed were so easy, anyone could’ve scored them,” said Gasperini told the media. “We had so many opportunities to win the game. Globally, we emerge with four points from our two games against Roma. We are still in third place and maintain our advantage over the chasing pack. We should’ve closed it earlier, considering the way the game was going. We need to reflect on this because some performances were really below par.”
The coach did not hold back in criticizing his players, particularly substitute Mario Pasalic and Luis Muriel. “Malinovskyi was tired, we were starting to develop some gaps in the middle and needed fresh legs, but Pasalic was not a good substitute. Some of the misses were just shocking. That’s a lack of concentration. It’s a pity because so often our substitutions have been decisive. The Gosens red card was also dumb, we more than contributed to throwing this win away. As long as we had 11 men, so for 70 minutes of the match, I didn’t see Roma manage a single shot on goal. They only became dangerous afterward. We need everyone to step up and contribute, otherwise, it’s going to be tough.”
Atalanta (4-2-3-1): Gollini; Toloi, Palomino, Romero, Djimsiti; De Roon, Freuler; Malinovskyi, Pessina, Muriel; Duvan Zapata

Rolando Mandragora’s absolute screamer earned Torino a point at the Stadio Dall’Ara against Bologna. Although the Rossoblu were comfortably mid-table, Toro needed every point they could get to break clear of the relegation zone. Adama Soumaoro sprinted back to make the decisive block on Simone Verdi, while Riccardo Orsolini blasted not far off target from a long way out. Andrea Belotti had a big opportunity to give Toro the lead after Simone Zaza and Verdi combined, but Lukasz Skorupski palmed it away for a corner. Verdi was caught napping for the Bologna goal moments later, sparking a counter and Musa Barrow’s finish flew through Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s legs in a howler from the shot-stopper.
Verdi really should’ve equalized for Torino, but turned wide when undisturbed from 12 yards. Lukasz Skorupski stood brave to deny Zaza on a counter-attack sparked by Andrea Belotti, but Toro got their deserved equalizer in spectacular style. A set play was cleared to the edge of the box, where Rolando Mandragora took a touch and hit an absolute screamer into the far top corner. It was simply unstoppable and incredibly with his ‘weaker’ right foot. Toro kept pushing, but Bremer nodded over the bar from a corner.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
