Cesare Prandelli is seeking his first win in Serie A since he returned to Fiorentina but Atalanta does not seem the best possible opponent.
Luis Muriel confirmed his super-sub status by coming off the bench to give Atalanta the 1-0 victory away to 10-man Ajax and booking their place in the Champions League Last 16. Atalanta director Umberto Marino did not deny there was a locker room row between Gian Piero Gasperini, Papu Gomez, and Josip Ilicic, but the Ajax game ‘was too important to get distracted.’
They had extra time for preparation for that, maybe the most important game of the season because the Udinese-Atalanta match had been postponed to a later date because of a waterlogged pitch on Sunday. Giacomo Bonaventura thought he had scored his first for Fiorentina, but his goal was ruled out for a foul in the build-up, while Mattia Destro was disallowed due to an offside position.
Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli has recovered from a mild injury and is expected to start at the Gewiss Stadium. Fiorentina has one draw and two defeats since Prandelli returned to La Viola last month to replace Beppe Iachini.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious.
