Gian Piero Gasperini admitted Atalanta's‘ failure to perform in the second half of a 4-3 win away to Genoa, but they are more than focused to beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final. They needed a victory to be sure of Champions League football for the third year running and did the job at Marassi. “It was tough to believe we’d do it three years in a row, especially this season, as it gets more difficult to keep repeating yourself,” Gasperini told the media. “The lads had a great reaction from January onwards and managed to secure it with a round to spare, despite having sides like Juventus, Napoli, and Milan all close by. All the years have been wonderful, this one was probably even more so.”
Atalanta was 4-1 up at Marassi, yet it ended 4-3 after they started to relax. “Football is a strange sport. The same team that came on so determined and eager to finish the job today with a wonderful first half, ended up not letting their foot off the gas, but grinding to a halt. We were dominating and Genoa deserve credit for coming back into it, but we did put in a two-faced performance. “In a way, it’s good, as being unsatisfied with this performance can help us prepare for Wednesday. Winning a trophy would be a crowning moment for all we’ve done over the years. People say Atalanta doesn’t win, but a club like ours in the Champions League for three years in a row is something remarkable. A trophy would be the icing on the cake, but in my view, we’re winners regardless.”
Andrea Pirlo revealed 'it was the first time Ronaldo was happy to be subbed off' and explains what Juventus have lacked this season. "We should have had the same determination and desire to fight on every ball also in the other games of the season," Pirlo told the media. "If we had done so, we would not be fighting for a top-four finish at this point. We made too many mistakes in games that seemed easy on paper. We've asked ourselves many times what we've lacked this season. We didn't have the same fire burning inside. We had to turn the light on again to fight the title and a top-four finish. The lads have proved they are up to the task in big games," the coach added. This group has a lot to give, we have many young players, but playing for Juventus means having more responsibility. It takes time to adapt. We shouldn't have dropped so many points, but this is a good team, we have room for improvement, there is a good base to work well."
Will Pirlo leave Juventus at the end of the season? "I haven't thought about the future. I was only focused on today's game. We'll talk about the future later on.'' Cristiano Ronaldo was subbed off in the second half. Although he didn't seem irritated for the first substitution in a league game this season, he didn't follow the final minutes with his teammates but instead headed to the dressing room. "I think it was the first time he was happy to be subbed off. We were one man down, and he'd have been chasing shadows. He was happy and smiling in the dressing room," Pirlo concluded.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
