Atalanta is torn between focusing on the trip to Real Madrid after their unlucky defeat at Inter and this game with unpredictable Spezia. Read our reasons for Atalanta vs Spezia prediction and betting tips.
La Dea keeps putting in strong performances without necessarily getting the results, as shown by 1-0 losses to Inter and Real Madrid. The second leg of that Champions League tie is coming up, but the focus must also be on securing a top-four Serie A finish. Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said he wouldn’t have done anything different against Inter, despite leaving San Siro empty-handed. La Dea pushed for the equalizer, as Milan Skriniar scored the only goal of the match after 54 minutes and helped Inter to a 1-0 win, re-establishing a six-point gap at the top. But Gasperini said he wouldn’t have changed his approach after a solid display against the League leaders, even if his team was narrowly beaten 1-0 on Monday night. “If I would replay it like this 100 more times? I would say yes,” Gasperini told the media after the match. “We had a good game, both in the first and the second half. We lost on a corner kick, a bit confused. We lost because of one episode.”

Spezia already held Atalanta to a rare 0-0 draw earlier this season and beat Milan, so they are not to be taken for granted. However, their form has dropped off lately, with just two points from four rounds. Spezia has announced another first-team player has tested positive for coronavirus. The Ligurian side announced two cases last Friday when the club confirmed goalkeeper Ivan Provedel and a member of coach Vincenzo Italiano’s staff has tested positive. Now, the Aquilotti announced a new case of COVID-19 in the team group. “Spezia Calcio announces, following the new latest swabs carried out yesterday, that a player from the first team tested positive,” the club wrote. “The member is in isolation and follows the procedure provided for by the health protocol.”
Adolfo Gaich scored his debut Serie A goal to give Benevento a much-needed point, but Spezia was frustrated after hitting the crossbar twice. Spezia had a huge chance within five minutes, as Emmanuel Gyasi got down the left and flashed a ball across the face of goal, but it bounced off M’Bala Nzola and wide from a couple of yards. Gaich did get his goal as he sprung the offside trap on a through ball, ran down the right, cut back inside and drilled left-footed past Zoet. Gyasi almost drew level with a header that clipped the top of the crossbar from the Salva Ferrer cross down the right. Spezia finally got their deserved equalizer when Diego Farias pulled across from the left for Giulio Maggiore, his effort was practically cleared off the line, only for Daniele Verde to fire in the rebound. Spezia rattled the woodwork for the second time, as the Martin Erlic free header from a corner smacked against the crossbar, with the hosts pouring forward in search of a winner, but Maggiore's strike was deflected off Federico Barba's back.
Spezia (4-3-3): Zoet; Ferrer, Ismajli, Erlic, Marchizza; Estevez, Ricci, Maggiore; Verde, Nzola, Gyasi

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
