Villarreal make the trip to La Liga Atletico Madrid on Satruday evening looking to build on their dominant 3-1 victory over Alaves at the weekend.
While much of the media focus has been on the arrival of Luis Suarez over the past week, Atletico Madrid are in a situation where they will want to concentrate on getting early victories on the board. Although they ultimately finished in third place last season, Diego Simeone required a strong finish to ensure that he continued his long reign at Los Rojiblancos. Having replaced the inconsistent Alvaro Morata with Suarez, there is a feeling that they can now challenge rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona for the La Liga title. But first results do not say that, draw at home against newly-promoted Huesca, really showed the current shape of the team. Suarez was restricted to an outing from the substitutes' bench against Granada on Sunday afternoon, but two goals and an assist came from the Uruguay international's 19-minute appearance. Simeone must now decide how to manage the fitness of the 33-year-old, aware that keeping the veteran available for selection is key if they want to keep the pressure on the big two.
While Unai Emery will be provided with plenty of time to get things right at Villarreal, the former Arsenal boss knows that his side have plenty of improvements to make in order to replicate last season's fifth-place finish.
A 1-1 draw at home to newly-promoted Huesca was followed by a comeback victory over Eibar, results which would have provided supporters with little confidence ahead of the trip to Camp Nou on Sunday evening. Despite Barcelona competing in their first game of the campaign, they blew away El Submarino Amarillo, netting all four goals before the break. With a trip to Atletico Madrid to come at the weekend, Emery was under pressure to get his side back on track in what was regarded as a must-win fixture against Alaves. Gerard Moreno has had a hand in all of Villarreal's goal this season, contributing two strikes and one assist.

With Villarreal's confidence potentially being knocked by the setback at Camp Nou, this game could be closer than many are predicting. Nevertheless, the home side's extra quality should shine through against opponents who would be delighted if they were able to earn a share of the spoils. We say draw for this one.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
