Augsburg host Hertha in the duel of the teams that played good football last weekend.
Augsburg ended a three-game winless streak last time out, as a superb overhead kick from Ruben Vargas and an Andre Hahn brace gave them a 3-1 victory at home to Mainz. Now sixth in the table, Heiko Herrlich's side has been the surprise package of the season so far, including a win against Borussia Dortmund and a draw with Wolfsburg. Ten points after six rounds of fixtures represent the second-best return of Augsburg's Bundesliga history. A win and 13 points would be a new club record after seven games.
Carlos Gruezo has been a strong presence in defensive midfield, while summer signing Daniel Caligiuri is always a threat going forward, contributing two goals and an assist so far. Augsburg is the hardest-running (collectively covering 75 miles per game) and fairest team (a total of 52 fouls committed) in the Bundesliga this season.
Florian Niederlechner is a doubt after missing the Mainz game through injury, but in Hahn, Michael Gregoritsch, and Alfred Finnbogason, Herrlich has plenty of options upfront. Hahn already has a team-leading three goals for the season. The one-time Germany international scored one in 15 appearances last term, and four in 28 in 2018/19. Right-back Raphael Framberger and midfielder Jan Moravek are the only members of the first-team squad certain to miss out.
Augsburg: Gikiewicz - Gumny, Gouweleeuw (c), Uduokhai, Iago - Caligiuri, Khedira, Gruezo, Vargas - Gregoritsch, Hahn
Out: Framberger (thigh), Moravek (muscular)
Doubtful: Niederlechner (abdominal strain)
Coach: Heiko Herrlich
After beginning the season in a promising fashion with a 4-1 win vs Werder Bremen, Hertha's campaign went off the track with four consecutive defeats. They stopped that trend last Sunday with a 1-1 draw at home to Wolfsburg, and they hope to use that positive result as a springboard to get back on the right path. Matteo Guendouzi instantly looked good in the central midfield on his Bundesliga debut in that game and is expected to earn his first start for Bruno Labbadia's side this weekend, especially as central midfielders Lucas Tousart and Santiago Ascacibar have been nursing injuries. Labbadia started his tenure as Hertha coach with a four-match unbeaten run comprising three wins and a draw but has won two and drawn one of 12 since.
Despite being down in 14th in the standings, only five teams have scored more than Hertha's 10 goals this season, and they have one of the most exciting front lines in the league, with Matheus Cunha (three goals, one assist), Jhon Cordoba (three goals) and Dodi Lukebakio (one goal, two assists) all set to be unleashed again at the WWK Arena. Cunha scored his third goal of the season against Wolfsburg, and ninth in 16 competitive appearances for Hertha. Hertha has conceded a league-high four goals from free-kicks so far this season.
Hertha: Schwolow - Pekarik, Boyata (c), Alderete, Mittelstädt - Darida, Stark, Guendouzi - Cunha - Lukebakio, Cordoba
Out: Ascacibar (muscular), Tousart (knee), Torunarigha (not included)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Bruno Labbadia

Augsburg is a side very hard to beat because of their outstanding work ethics but Hertha has one of the flashiest and creative counter-attacking trios in the league. Betting on Hertha to broke that winless streak could be a value bet for this match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
