Ryan Sessegnon will be back from international duty with England's U21s but may have to support his team from the bench when Hoffenheim travels to Augsburg on Saturday. Read our reasons for Augsburg vs Hoffenheim prediction and betting tips.
With two wins from their last four, Augsburg has managed to put some space between themselves and the relegation places. They will know, however, that defeat to Hoffenheim could reduce their gap to the play-off spot to just three points. Augsburg has won just one of their last 11 Bundesliga matches against Hoffenheim, in December 2019, losing eight in total. Die Fuggerstädter has lost five home games in a row against Hoffenheim and has never suffered six straight defeats against a single club. Coach Heiko Herrlich will have been frustrated by the 2-0 loss at Freiburg before the international break, but won't be panicked into widespread changes for the visit of TSG. There could be a switch at left-back, though, with Mads Pedersen in line to replace Robert Gumny. Englishman Reece Oxford has been somewhat of a lucky charm for Augsburg this season and played in all but one of their eight wins, but will most likely have to settle for a place on the bench with Herrlich having reverted to a back four. Augsburg's Tobias Strobl made 86 appearances for Hoffenheim and scored his only Bundesliga goal to this day for TSG.

Hoffenheim was shocked by a 2-1 loss to lowly Mainz on Matchday 26, their second defeat on the spin. Having gone four games without defeat (W2, D2) before that latest pair of losses, their recent run is their season in a nutshell. Sebastian Hoeneß's side has been largely inconsistent, unable to keep a regular pace with the European hopefuls or pull themselves emphatically clear of the relegation run-in. Marco John should continue to hold off competition from Sessegnon for a spot on Hoffenheim's left-hand side, while Hoeneß will look to Andrej Kramaric to add to his 14-goal return so far and fire the visitors past their hosts - provided his ankle injury picked up on international duty with Croatia isn't too serious. Hoffenheim forward Kramaric is fifth in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts with 14, despite missing nine games with injury. Hoffenheim earned 17 points from the last eight games of last season to earn themselves a place in the UEFA Europa League. Hoffenheim has celebrated more wins against Augsburg than any other current Bundesliga side (11) beating only Hannover (13) more often.

Doubtful: Adamyan (hamstring), Akpoguma (match fitness), Belfodil (back), Kramaric (ankle)
Coach: Sebastian Hoeneß

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
