Augsburg's long-standing winless run against Bayer Leverkusen could finish on Sunday.
Three defeats on the bounce for Augsburg since a Matchday 18 win over Union Berlin have Heiko Herrlich's side on the edge of slipping into a relegation battle once again. Die Fuggerstädter has to be cut some slack, though, with those losses coming against Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, and RB Leipzig across a tough run of four games, culminating in this Sunday's visit of Leverkusen. With fixtures against fellow relegation battlers Mainz and Hertha Berlin in the weeks to follow, Augsburg will be eager to get some confidence back in the side which has won just twice since the turn of the year.
A big boost for this weekend comes in the return of defender Felix Uduohkai, who missed out in the 2-1 defeat at Leipzig due to illness. Meanwhile, Raphael Framberger is pushing for a recall on the right and could displace Robert Gumny. Herrlich is expected to stick with the same attack which started at the Red Bull Arena, with Laszlo Benes and Daniel Caligiuri in closest support of Andre Hahn but there are several attackers - including Niederlechner - pushing for a recall.
Augsburg: Gikiewicz - Oxford, Gouweleeuw (c), Uduokhai - Framberger, Strobl, Gruezo, Pedersen - Caligiuri, Benes - Hahn
Out: Finnbogason (calf), Iago (ankle)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Heiko Herrlich
Bayer Leverkusen fought back from three goals down at the break against Young Boys, before Jordan Siebatcheu scored in the 89th to give the Swiss team a 4-3 win. Peter Bosz will be making sure his players stay awake until the final whistle is blown on Sunday. Leverkusen took a two-goal lead into injury time against Mainz last weekend but conceded twice in the final minutes to draw 2-2 with the relegation-threatened 05ers. The Dutch coach will look to take the positives from a match in which both Patrik Schick and Lucas Alario found the net in a Bundesliga fixture for the first time, but Leverkusen has injury concerns.
Lukas Hradecky was taken off with a heel injury last time out, which saw 27-year-old Niklas Lomb make his Bundesliga debut for the club he has been with since 2008. Lomb could keep his place with Hradecky still a doubt. Daley Sinkgraven could be recalled at left-back ahead of Wendell having been an unused substitute last weekend. Nadiem Amiri, who made his return from the bench last time out, could start ahead of Kerem Demirbay in midfield having reached full fitness once again.
Leverkusen: Lomb - Fosu-Mensah, Tah, Tapsoba, Sinkgraven - Wirtz, Aranguiz (c), Amiri - Bailey, Schick, Diaby
Out: Arias (ankle), Baumgartlinger (knee), Bellarabi (thigh), L. Bender (calf), Paulinho (knee), Weiser (thigh)
Doubtful: Hradecky (heel)
Coach: Peter Bosz

Leverkusen has never suffered defeat to Augsburg. There has not been another meeting played as often as this (19 times) in the Bundesliga with one team failing to win a single game. Both teams to score is the most reasonable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
