Austria and Denmark go head-to-head in Vienna n Wednesday night, in a massive clash in Group F qualifiers for Qatar 2022. Read our reasons for Austria vs Denmark prediction and betting tips.
Austria has got off to a good start in Group F, drawing 2-2 away to Scotland before beating Faroe Island 3-1 in what proved to be a simple victory. The home side will feel confident that they can seal one of the top-two spots in Group F. Wednesday night’s opponents may be their biggest hurdle to competing at World 2022. Franco Foda’s team is unbeaten in eight international matches, having recorded six victories. They have also been potent in front of goal, having scored at least two goals in four of their last five outings. One player who has been in hot form of late is young Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic, who has scored three times in his last two international outings. The goals come on the back of a stellar maiden season in the German Bundesliga. Kalajdzic has scored in seven successive games for Stuttgart, equalling a club record set by Fredi Bobic in 1995/96 before facing Bayern Munich in the last round. Austria has a decent recent home record, as they are unbeaten in their last four international matches, having recorded three victories in the process. They have won seven of their last nine games on home soil.
David Alaba is part of their squad after Bayern Munich last week reversed their decision to let the versatile defender link up with his national side. Martin Hinteregger has played no part in March's two fixtures because of injury, however, and Julian Baumgartlinger is another notable name who is missing from the squad. Sasa Kalajdzic has been in fine form for Stuttgart and should retain his place up top alongside Marcel Sabitzer, though Michael Gregoritsch is another pushing for a start.
Austria: Schlager; Lainer, Dragovic, Lienhart, Alaba; Baumgartner, Grillitsch, Ilsanker, Schlager; Kalajdzic, Sabitzer
Denmark will be delighted with their start to life in Group F with a 2-0 win over Israel before demolishing Moldova 8-0. Braces from Nice striker Kasper Dolberg and Sampdoria forward Mikkel Damsgaard and goals from Udinese right-back Jens Stryger Larsen, Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen, Hoffenheim attacker Robert Skov, and Union Berlin striker Marcus Ingvartsen secured the win for Denmark. That means they have won seven of their last eight games with their only defeat coming in a 4-2 result against Belgium. The good start to their qualifying campaign was just a continuation of their recent good form all around, as the Scandinavian team has now won seven of their last eight international matches. They have also been prolific of late in front of a goal, scoring at least two goals in their five games. The visitors have been tough to beat on their travels of late, as they have lost just one of their last 11 away internationals while winning three of their previous four games. As in their recent international games in general, Denmark has been relatively prolific on their travels, scoring at least two goals scored in three of their last four outings.
Denmark's front three were phenomenal in the win over Moldova, with Mikkel Damsgaard, in particular, standing out with two goals and two assists. The emphatic win came despite Hjulmand making changes from the Israel match, which included Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Martin Braithwaite, and Christian Eriksen dropping to the bench. Hjulmand, therefore, has a tough call to make on Wednesday, though he is likely to revert to something close to the same XI that started the opening qualifying fixture.
Denmark: Schmeichel; Wass, Kjaer, Christensen, Maehle; Hojbjerg, Delaney; Poulsen, Eriksen, Braithwaite; Dolberg

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
