Can Barca complete the double over Juve or will Andrea Pirlo’s side produce a performance worth remembering on Wednesday night?
Barcelona’s league campaign suffered another blow at the weekend as they were beaten 2-1 in Cadiz, but they head into the final round of Champions League Group Stage matches in a much better position. They have won all five of their group games so far, including a 2-0 victory in Turin on matchday two, to put themselves top of Group G and only needing to avoid defeat against Juventus to confirm qualify as group winners.
They started their UCL journey with an important win against Ferencvaros following that up with triumphs against Juventus and Dynamo Kyiv. In the reverse fixtures, they were unstoppable against Kyiv and Ferencvaros as they register 7 goals on a trot without conceding once in the last two outings. With the Round of 16 spots confirmed, they will be looking to end the group stage on a high.
Barca revealed on Sunday afternoon that Ousmane Dembele had picked up another hamstring problem against Cadiz, meaning that the France international is facing an extended period on the sidelines. Dembele joins Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique, and Sergi Roberto on the treatment table, while Samuel Umtiti is again expected to miss out due to ongoing knee problems. Despite already booking their spot in the Round of 16, Koeman is expected to select a strong side on Tuesday, with Messi, Philippe Coutinho, and Antoine Griezmann likely to start.
Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Ter Stegen; Dest, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; Pjanic, De Jong; Pedri, Messi, Coutinho; Griezmann
Juventus, need to win by two or more goals to surpass the Catalan giants at the top of the group, and that necessity to attack could open up a few holes in any already leaky defense. The Turin side has conceded in eight of their last ten matches in all competitions and has only won three of their seven competitive trips away this season. Barcelona, on the other hand, has won six of their eight home games this term and has scored at least two goals on five occasions.
Juventus completed a last-minute comeback to win the dramatic Derby Della Mole with Weston McKennie and Leonardo Bonucci headers. Torino was the undoubted underdogs but took the lead through Nicolas Nkoulou and only Wojciech Szczesny prevented Simone Zaza from making it 2-0. The Bianconeri were out of rhythm until the second half, when they start to perform, although Bonucci’s offside position caused the Juan Cuadrado goal to be disallowed. Cuadrado was involved again with the turnaround, as his two crosses found McKennie and Bonucci headers to doom Toro to yet another fumbled lead.
Merih Demiral, Giorgio Chiellini, and Gianluigi Buffon remain on the sidelines through injury, but Alvaro Morata is available as his suspension only relates to domestic matches. Morata is likely to join Ronaldo as part of a front two at Camp Nou, meaning that Paulo Dybala could drop to the bench, with Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski operating in the wide areas.
Juventus (4-4-2): Szczesny; Cuadrado, Bonucci, De Ligt, Sandro; Kulusevski, Rabiot, Bentancur, Chiesa; Morata, Ronaldo

That final 2-0 score in the first match in Turin was not realistic, because Juve played better and had some unlucky situations, Morata three times found a net after an inch offside situations. The problem for Juve is that they are far from the team that could blow away and side, but they can hurt below average Barca. Both teams to score looks like the only good bet before the start of this match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
