BARNSLEY VS HUDDERSFIELD MATCH ANALYSIS
After picking up their third straight league win against Preston (2-1) on December 15 and winning eight in their last 12 games (L4), Barnsley ended the hot run at Swansea with a 2-0 defeat. They were without a win in their first seven matches and, despite the last weekend’s loss, their turnaround has been remarkable. They are sitting in 13th place with 28 points, on goal difference below the visitors, who go into this weekend’s game on the back of a goalless draw against Coventry at St. Andrew's and a 2-0 home win against Watford. which puts them in 12th place with 28 points.
After miraculously escaping the relegation on the final day of the last season, Barnsley have started this new campaign in the same vein. They had been sitting near the relegation zone early in the campaign but have dramatically improved their form since, and have only been beaten five times in the last thirteen games (W8). It looks like Valerien Ismael has steadied the ship as they have now gone from relegation candidates to play-off hopefuls.
Barnsley last won four games in a row in 2013, but the Swans were ill-suited to Barnsley’s style of play and the win was never within the Tykes’ reach in Wales last weekend. Jamal Lowe put the hosts ahead after only 76 seconds and while the visitors applied plenty of pressure, Victor Adeboyejo's own goal from a Swansea corner ended their resistance. Barnsley, who had more possession than the hosts, could not make it count and the result saw them slip to 13th.
Huddersfield, on the other hand, look like they have accommodated to the new manager's ways after a disappointing start to the season. The club put their trust in Carlos Corberan, but it will take some time for the players to get familiar with what is asked of them. They produced an acceptable response to their 5-0 demolition at the hands of Bournemouth when they shared the points with an in-form Coventry side on December 16, but Corberan would be more pleased with a win against promotion candidates Watford.
The Terriers capitalised on the first-half mistake by former England goalkeeper Ben Foster and Etienne Capoue’s own goal. Vladimir Ivic's visitors looked threatening in the second half but found Terriers keeper Ryan Schofield in inspired form as he twice made fantastic saves to earn them their fourth consecutive home win. Barnsley are one of the worst possible team to try to beat in their stadium, but if they show the same level of energy and determination as they did against the Hornets, they have a chance.

This fixture has not lacked entertainment recently, with six of Barnsley’s last seven clashes against Huddersfield seeing both teams score. Overall, the Tykes’ Championship record at home to the Terriers is decent enough (W13, D4, L7).
Barnsley are currently on their joint-best Championship campaign since 2011/12, while they also enjoy an admirable unbeaten record at home (W4, D2).
Huddersfield, on the other hand, are on a five-game winless run away from home (D2, L3). They played out two goalless draws, but more worryingly for them, they shipped 12 goals in their three defeats. However, if the visitors score first, it could galvanize them to go on and win their third away match of the campaign.
BettingKick’s prediction for Barnsley vs Huddersfield match is: Both teams to score

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
