Lucas Alario and Krzysztof Piatek are set to lead the Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin attacks when they meet at the BayArena on Sunday afternoon.
Leverkusen is the most in-form team in the Bundesliga and striker Alario is one of the league's most in-form players. The Argentina international scored three successive braces and seven in his last five games before he helped his side to a sixth straight win last time out, with Aleksandar Dragovic stepping up as the hero to earn all three points at Arminia Bielefeld. Leverkusen comes into this one on a five-game winning run in the Bundesliga, their longest such spell since early 2016. As such, they are the most in-form team in the league.
Alario is set to lead the attack once again for the visit of the Berlin team on Sunday, despite the return of Patrik Schick to full fitness. Another man in form is Leon Bailey, who has contributed to four goals in his last five league matches. He and Moussa Diaby should continue on the wings, while there is some injury concern for Peter Bosz in Die Werkself's defense. Both Bender twins (Lars and Sven), as well as Edmond Tapsoba, missed Leverkusen's UEFA Europa League group stage game against Hapoel Be'er Sheva on Thursday, with all three hoping to be back in time for Hertha.
Leverkusen: Hradecky - L. Bender (c), Tah, Dragovic, Sinkgraven - Wirtz, Baumgartlinger, Amiri - Bailey, Alario, Diaby
Out: Aranguiz (Achilles tendon), Arias (ankle), Palacios (back), Paulinho (knee)
Doubtful: S. Bender (ankle), Tapsoba (not included)
Coach: Peter Bosz
Hertha is searching for consistency - as is main striker Piatek. The Poland international has bagged a goal and an assist so far this season with both coming away from home. Krzysztof Piatek has hit the woodwork twice this season, more than any other player in the league. While Bruno Labbadia's side suffered defeat against Borussia Dortmund last time out just after returning to winning ways against Augsburg. Matheus Cunha has been the capital club's biggest hope of returning to form, with the Brazilian scoring four goals in his last three Bundesliga outings. Cunha has found the target in five different games for Hertha in 2020/21, but his side has only won two of those.
With Jhon Cordoba ruled out for the remainder of the year, Hertha will be relying on Piatek, Cunha, and two-goal Dodi Lukebakio to find goals with Labbadia unlikely to change much despite their heavy defeat last weekend. Centre-back Jordan Torunarigha is back in training meanwhile, but unlikely to be fit for the weekend. Hertha has gone 1-0 up in each of their last four matches, but only went on to earn maximum points in one of them (against Augsburg).
Hertha: Schwolow - Pekarik, Boyata (c), Alderete, Plattenhardt - Stark, Guendouzi - Lukebakio, Darida, Cunha - Piatek
Out: Cordoba (ankle)
Doubtful: Ascacibar (muscular), Torunarigha (ankle)
Coach: Bruno Labbadia

Leverkusen can show signs of fatigue after their Thursday win in the UEFA Europa League but they have a big roster and team capable to be competitive in every competition. This game looks like a high scoring affair and both teams to score is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
