Robert Lewandowski will once again lead the line for Bayern Munich as they look to progress to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in the second leg of their round of 16 tie at home to Lazio on Wednesday. Read our reasons for Bayern Munich vs Lazio prediction and betting tips.
The defending European champions already have one foot in the last eight after a commanding 4-1 victory in Rome in the first leg in February, and will be determined to finish the job with a minimum of fuss on home turf. Lewandowski scored his fourth Champions League goal of the season in that game and made more history at the weekend by moving into joint second in the Bundesliga's all-time scorers' chart with his 268th top-flight goal in the 3-1 triumph over Werder Bremen. That result was a fourth consecutive victory for Hansi Flick's side, who have scored at least three times in each of those triumphs as they ominously look to be hitting their stride as the business end of the campaign approaches.
David Alaba missed out against Bremen due to a muscle injury, so Lucas Hernandez could deputize once more as the team's left-sided center-back alongside Jerome Boateng. In-form winger Leroy Sane was rested at the weekend, only playing a 10-minute cameo in Bremen, and he is vying for a starting berth alongside fellow wide men Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman, although Douglas Costa is absent with a foot complaint.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Hernandez, Davies - Kimmich, Goretzka - Sane, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Costa (metatarsal), Hoffmann (knee), Nianzou (thigh), Tolisso (thigh)
Doubtful: Alaba (muscular)
Coach: Hansi Flick
The first leg against Bayern marked the start of a three-game losing streak for Lazio, who subsequently slipped to away defeats against Bologna and Juventus. Simeone Inzaghi’s side returned to winning ways on Friday with a 3-2 triumph at home to Crotone on Matchday 27, but they remain seventh in the Serie A standings, six points off the Champions League qualifying places. Perhaps of even greater concern for Inzaghi is the fact that top scorer and former Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile, who has found the net five times in Europe this term, is without a goal in his last six competitive games.
On a more positive note, veteran defender Stefan Radu is available again having made his comeback from injury against Crotone after six weeks on the sidelines with injury. Lazio drew all three of their away matches during this season’s group stage, including a 1-1 draw in Dortmund, but they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 18 games in the competition.
Lazio: Reina - Patric, Acerbi, Radu - Marusic, Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva, Alberto, Fares - Immobile (c), Correa
Out: Anderson (ineligible), Felipe (ankle)
Doubtful: Akpa Akpro (knock), Lazzari (calf)
Coach: Simone Inzaghi

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
