Bayern Munich will look to extend their winning run in the UEFA Champions League and book a spot in the knockout phase when they host RB Salzburg at Allianz Arena.
The Bundesliga giants are on a quest to defend their Champions League trophy, and they surely want to get their job done in the group stages as soon as possible. Bayern Munich’s incredible 10-match winning streak came to an end on Saturday, when the Bavarians were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Werder Bremen.
Bayern dominated the early exchanges with Douglas Costa flashing a cross-shot wide, but Bremen created the clearer openings. With a quarter of an hour gone, Milot Rashica put the ball on a plate for Sargent, only for Manuel Neuer to deny the USA international at point-blank range. Bremen finally found a way through in first-half added time when Sargent put Javi Martinez on his back, before crossing for Maxi Eggestein to slot home with a superb first-time finish. Substitute Leon Goretzka crossed a fine ball at the back post, where Coman headed in the goal. Werder became only the third team in 2020 to take points off the reigning treble winners.
Kimmich will not return until 2021, with Alphonso Davies out until early December with a torn ankle ligament. Lucas Hernandez limped off early against Bremen may not be risked against Salzburg. Tolisso has resumed full training following his minor injury sustained on international duty with France, but he will probably start from the bench.
Bayern Munich: Neuer; Pavard, Sule, Alaba, Sarr; Martinez, Goretzka; Sane, Muller, Gnabry; Lewandowski
Salzburg has collected only one point from a possible nine, but they are very capable to entertain football fans on every occasion. They were beaten 3-1 at home in the domestic league match over the weekend against Sturm, making it a three-match winless run in all competitions – drawing one and losing two. In the Champions League this campaign, Salzburg started with a 2-2 draw against Lokomotiv Moscow but soon fell to back-to-back defeats. A 3-2 loss against Atletico Madrid was followed by the 6-2 loss to Salzburg. That loss happens to be the first time Salzburg conceded six goals in any European competition.
When Bayern played Die Roten Bullen in Austria three weeks ago, that was one of the most entertaining Champions League fixtures of the entire group stage. An incredibly packed evening in Wals-Siezenheim was filled with action, Salzburg connected with 18 attempts on goal to Bayern’s 21, and it should be replicated when the attack-minded teams meet once again in a highly anticipated rematch.
Zlatko Junuzovic and Masaya Okugawa, who have both scored in this season's competition, played no part in the weekend's league defeat to Sturm Graz and are doubtful to feature against Bayern. Star striker Patson Daka is out, while Antoine Bernede's shin injury will keep the midfielder on the sidelines until late January.
RB Salzburg: Stankovic; Nissen, Ramalho, Wober, Ulmer; Mwepu, Kamara, Seiwald; Berisha, Szoboszlai; Koita

Bayern is a heavy favorite for a win but Salzburg will make this match a hugely entertaining match to watch. Both teams to score looks like a sure bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
