Two of the Bundesliga's deadliest strikers go head-to-head when Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich welcome Wout Weghorst and Wolfsburg to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Wolfsburg know better than most quite how deadly Lewandowski can be, the Polish striker snatched more than one world record when he plundered five goals in just nine minutes against them under Pep Guardiola in September 2015. Lewandowski made has 175 goals in 200 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern – 21 more than Gerd Müller scored in his first 200 league outings. Lewandowski has 22 goals in 20 career games against Wolfsburg. One more would bring up his 250th strike in the Bundesliga. Bayern has scored a club record 35 goals after 11 matches. The Pole's place up front is assured, but there could be some rotation from Saturday's 1-1 draw at Union Berlin further back.
Alphonso Davies started in the capital but having only recently overcome an ankle injury there's every chance the Canadian will be rested with Lucas Hernandez given the nod at left-back. Muscular trouble means that Leon Goretzka could make way for Corentin Tolisso in central midfield, meanwhile. Joshua Kimmich rejoined team training this week following a knee injury but will not be risked this side of Christmas. Leroy Sane might have been pushing for a start but Kingsley Coman's form - five goals and eight assists in 13 games in all competitions - has made the French winger all but undroppable for coach Hansi Flick.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Hernandez - Musiala, Tolisso - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Kimmich (knee), Martinez (thigh), Nianzou (thigh)
Doubtful: Goretzka (muscular), Süle (knee)
Coach: Hansi Flick
Lewandowski may be out in front on 13 goals in his pursuit of a fifth Torjagerkanone in six seasons, but Weghorst is one of his closest pursuers on nine goals, with only Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland (10) having scored more than the Dutchman - Lewandowski aside. Weghorst bagged both goals as Wolfsburg beat Eintracht 2-1 last Friday, a result which lifted Oliver Glasner's side to fourth in the table. Without European football to worry about this season, this is a rare midweek fixture for the Wolves, who will hope to be relatively well-rested in comparison to Bayern.
Captain Josuha Guilavogui remains a doubt, and while Renato Steffen, Admir Mehmedi, and Yunnus Malli - all final third operators - are sidelined, the combination of Kevin Mbabu and Ridle Baku up the right worked well against Frankfurt and the coach is likely to stick with the same starting line-up.
Wolfsburg: Casteels (c) - Mbabu, Lacroix, Brooks, Roussillon - Schlager, Arnold - Baku, Philipp, Brekalo - Weghorst
Out: Malli (back), Mehmedi (Achilles tendon), Steffen (groin)
Doubtful: Guilavogui (thigh), Pongracic (muscular)
Coach: Oliver Glasner

Bayern is a firm favorite to win the next game but Wolfsburg has options to be dangerous so both teams to score is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
